Lean Manufacturing Co-Op, 3 Rotations
• Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes.
• Assist in maintaining and improving processes and systems that affect the quality of the steel castings.
• Responsible for working with various production departments to implement lean manufacturing concepts and
principles. This involved performing time studies and cycle times of the current processes, using various lean
techniques in different departments, gathering baseline data for Kaizen events, writing standard work and
autonomous maintenance instructions, and being a team member in multiple Kaizen events.
• Managed, audited, and maintained 5S projects within multiple departments.
• Adapted an archaic quoting model to represent the direct and indirect costs of each new processing step in the
manufacturing of casting to ensure competitive pricing in the quoting process of both existing and new parts. My
model factored in direct materials, cost of consumables, productivity rate and overhead rates to determine the cost of
the model. The model was within 5% of the unit cost of existing products when compared with our accounting system
(which cannot produce quotes).
STUDENT CONSULTING FOR NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS September 2015 –Present
Consultant
• Generated an annual report for the fiscal year for Mon Yough Community Services. The purpose of the report was to
reflect on the organization’s year and increase contributions from donors. I analyzed organization’s financial
statements and included them into the report. I also included patient care data to exhibit the organization’s
effectiveness of handling patients.
• Learned new software to implement document workflow to improve process efficiency at the Jewish Community
Center in the accounts receivable department.
RESEARCH PROJECTS / ORGANIZATIONS / ACTIVITIES
• Completed Six Sigma project sponsored by Westinghouse Electric Company. The project included analyzing and redefining
cost of poor quality errors in their corrective action system, and providing them with recommendations on how to improve
the system. (NDA Protected).
• Worked with Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) on a project that integrated two different product lines into one. This was
a group project where we proposed a new line configuration and proved its increased efficiency by utilizing different
metrics. This project was able to save MSA 510 ft2
that allowed them to increase capacity for other products.
• Authored “Lean’s Utilization in the Emergency Department”. This project focused on Lean principles and how they can be
applied in an EMC environment. The presentation / paper focused on a continuous improvement process cycle that
focused on eliminating wastes and was accompanied by a case study from UPMC Presbyterian Trauma Unit.
• Received an Honorable Mention in the Auburn Engineers 9th
Annual Ergonomics Competition. This was a national
competition against different teams of undergraduate and graduate students from 40 universities. The competition consisted
of one preliminary problem and one final problem where the ergonomics of local organizations were studied.
