What you should know before starting Internet marketing

industry in internet marketing events all

Identify your customer
You need to know and understand your customers better than any other company.
Discover what your customer need and which ones are the most important, the internet
marketing actually starts by solving the customer’s needs. Then identify the way they
look for products, in what way they describe your products, who they trust for ideas and
opinions, and what they wish they could get today.
Segment your market
The market segmentation is essential. Divide
your market into groups of similar customers
with the groups being distinctly different
from each other, that way you can see the
segments that have a bigger chance to
succeed, the segments with growth
opportunities, or that match to your core
competencies, or even that have the greatest
profit potential. It makes it easy to identify
prospects, and, if you can, divide into
segments according to which key benefits
they seek, you can invest your time in the one
worth your time and overlook the rest.
Don’t stop improving your numbers
The key to a good internet marketing
strategy is to not just measure ROI, but
keep improving it. The internet
marketing is in the statistics, we need
to be able to measure results. Now a
days practically anything can be
measured for its marketing influence,
so aim for a marketing strategy that is
highly lucrative, that you can repeat,
reaches your target audience, and
builds your brand.
The whole company needs to be in it
The internet marketing actually goes
beyond the marketing department.
Your whole company needs to be a
brand ambassador, and that requires
more than just the marketing
department. This kind of action only
happen with the support from the top
and from the buy-in throughout
management. The companies that
actually understands that introduce a
clear understanding of their brand
promise into each employee, what
helps them make better decisions that
will support the brand.
Know and teach the difference between
environmental sustainability and greenwashing
The recession put value in environmental sustainability. But as a brand owner you need
to know the difference in the concepts of sustainability and Greenwashing. Consumers
will continue to look for information about what a truly sustainable product is, and will
be able to see through Greenwashing. Invest in learning about sustainability yourself,
these better informed consumers will turn on you if you fake it, and help them to
understand it to. Become the teacher of green thinking and your consumer won’t turn
against you.
Don’t divide sales and marketing
There is a division between the sales
and the marketing teams in most
companies, especially for the lack of
understanding on how one can help
the other, and that’s truly a lost
opportunity. The sales people know
so much about the consumer, his
needs and even what he thinks about
the product, that can help the
marketer know the client without
actually meeting him.
Don’t stop learning
It’s not because you have a degree
that you know all that has to know
about internet marketing. The
online world is always changing and
so is the tools that you learn to use.
Some things in marketing can be
eternal, but many things change
with every transformation of the
economy, technology, demographics,
and media.

  • 3. Identify your customer You need to know and understand your customers better than any other company. Discover what your customer need and which ones are the most important, the internet marketing actually starts by solving the customer’s needs. Then identify the way they look for products, in what way they describe your products, who they trust for ideas and opinions, and what they wish they could get today.
  • 4. Segment your market The market segmentation is essential. Divide your market into groups of similar customers with the groups being distinctly different from each other, that way you can see the segments that have a bigger chance to succeed, the segments with growth opportunities, or that match to your core competencies, or even that have the greatest profit potential. It makes it easy to identify prospects, and, if you can, divide into segments according to which key benefits they seek, you can invest your time in the one worth your time and overlook the rest.
  • 5. Don’t stop improving your numbers The key to a good internet marketing strategy is to not just measure ROI, but keep improving it. The internet marketing is in the statistics, we need to be able to measure results. Now a days practically anything can be measured for its marketing influence, so aim for a marketing strategy that is highly lucrative, that you can repeat, reaches your target audience, and builds your brand.
  • 6. The whole company needs to be in it The internet marketing actually goes beyond the marketing department. Your whole company needs to be a brand ambassador, and that requires more than just the marketing department. This kind of action only happen with the support from the top and from the buy-in throughout management. The companies that actually understands that introduce a clear understanding of their brand promise into each employee, what helps them make better decisions that will support the brand.
  • 7. Know and teach the difference between environmental sustainability and greenwashing The recession put value in environmental sustainability. But as a brand owner you need to know the difference in the concepts of sustainability and Greenwashing. Consumers will continue to look for information about what a truly sustainable product is, and will be able to see through Greenwashing. Invest in learning about sustainability yourself, these better informed consumers will turn on you if you fake it, and help them to understand it to. Become the teacher of green thinking and your consumer won’t turn against you.

Don’t divide sales and marketing There is a division between the sales and the marketing teams in most companies, especially for the lack of understanding on how one can help the other, and that’s truly a lost opportunity. The sales people know so much about the consumer, his needs and even what he thinks about the product, that can help the marketer know the client without actually meeting him.
  • 9. Don’t stop learning It’s not because you have a degree that you know all that has to know about internet marketing. The online world is always changing and so is the tools that you learn to use. Some things in marketing can be eternal, but many things change with every transformation of the economy, technology, demographics, and media.
