Como puede apreciarse, el origen de nuestra Alma Mater está inscrito en las condiciones socioeconómicas, culturales y políticas de la Barranquilla de los años treinta y cuarenta, pero también se asocia a la visión avanzada de algunos dirigentes intelectuales de la ciudad que, como Julio Enrique Blanco, Rafael Tovar Ariza y Fernando Cepeda y Roca, entre otros, tuvieron para dotar a la ciudad y la región de un centro de estudios superiores, patrimonio cultural, cuyo epicentro fuera una educación integral.
Actualmente la Universidad cuenta con alrededor de 16.000 estudiantes. Se ofrecen carreras de pregrado y programas de postgrado, en las tres sedes ubicadas en la ciudad y varios municipios de la región. Como universidad estatal de reconocida trayectoria ha formado los profesionales de la Región Caribe en los campos de la Educación, del Arte, de las Ciencias Humanas, de las Ciencias Naturales, de la Arquitectura y las Ingenierías.

BarnieCOR is engineering analysis software that provides flexibility and high performance for processing test data without needing a database infrastructure. It offers both basic and advanced tools through its GUI. The GUI allows for interactive data processing by showing source data and query results in windows, and generating customizable plots from the results. Analysis can also be automated through scripts that implement processing functions, and data can be shared with other software for further post-processing.

- 1. DataBuffer Tool Generating buffered species alert layers What is the DataBuffer Tool? An easy to use, flexible tool to generate ‘species alert’ layers based on species data held by the LERC Species data can be buffered, combined and dissolved as required to create data that is easy for partners to use and interpret Fully integrated into your GIS system as a menu item Fully configurable to suit your organisation’s requirements Compatible with MapInfo (ArcGIS and QGIS versions can be developed) What do the outputs look like? In order to simplify large numbers of records for each input layer, outputs can be ‘Combined’ when multiple records exist within the same location, or ‘Clustered’ when within a specified distance of each other Spatial output in native GIS format (platform dependent) Each output layer can be fully configured with custom symbology Spatial output is added to the GIS interface A log file automatically documents the process for auditing purposes

The tool integrates with your GIS, where it accesses the data layers you wish to use A log file is kept of the process Information about how to buffer and cluster the data layer is contained in an XML configuration document.
