Modern, cutting-edge developments are not reflected in current patent classification systems, which tend to catalogue established technologies. Identifying patent portfolios in such emerging fields proves a challenging job for patent and technology experts.
Going beyond the mere identification of new IP, additional value may be added using a regional geographic weighting combined with consolidated portfolio owner information.
Effective monitoring of the technological field is achieved by training active-learning search engines to hunt for highly relevant patent documents, thus keeping IP portfolios for emerging technologies up to date. The system we have developed permits extremely accurate updates with drastically reduced noise and with low workload which have proven to be invaluable in a world of drastically increasing data blur.

Protection and monetization of 3D printed objects in the spare parts business...team-WIBU
Bus operators depend on their vehicles, and any spare parts they need have to be available as quickly as possible. Up to now, this meant massive local stocks or complex on-demand logistics, but now digitalization is hailing in a new age. The owners and operators of Mercedes Benz and Setra busses can now produce the parts themselves with 3D printing. All they need for these mini-factories are a certified 3D printer and the licenses for the parts they want to print. Wibu-Systems’ CodeMeter provides the technological basis for a secure digital process chain with full control over how many parts can be and are printed on the ground.
Additive manufacturing was long considered a technology for nerds or select specialists. There were too many technical challenges still to be overcome, and the cost of 3D printed parts was far too high compared to conventional manufacturing. But times have changed, and many of these problems have been solved. New service concepts are being introduced and are already creating new global, digital markets. Our webinar introduces the solution thought up by Daimler Buses in partnership with the 3D printer specialists Farsoon Technology and the CodeMeter security technology of Wibu-Systems. The system solves two essential problems: The protection of the digital object data and the monetization of the entire process with a reliable license management system.
The challenge is to be able to produce parts wherever and whenever they are needed. This promises a new field for service providers to get active in, offering 3D printing services for their clients. However, when the parts are processed and printed by a third party, there need to be systems in place to protect the intellectual property involved and to make the entire value chain correctly traceable and, crucially, billable. This is where Daimler Buses has found a solution with the potential to revolutionize the current conventional parts business. The system creates exciting new prospects for the service business and for the availability of spare parts, both economically and ecologically speaking.
Many parts and components are now available in digital format on the OMNIplus 3D printing license shop. Bus operators and service partners around the world can purchase these and produce them at their leisure and at the point of need. The parts are provided as encrypted downloads. As in any online store, the buyer adds the right items to their cart. At the checkout, the buyer then receives a preprinting license to prepare the print job with the Buildstar® software made by Farsoon Technologies and the actual printing license for the right number of parts. The licenses can then be used with the Makestar® software on Farsoon-certified 3D printers. Both protected and unprotected parts can be combined in one job to reduce the printing costs. Order processing is handled by the combination of CodeMeter License Central and the SAP system already in place at Daimler Buses.

This presentation looks at the importance of events and the role that they play in software applications. We describe how events are a key application integration mechanism and how they are used by applications to communicate with the outside world. You will learn how the microservices inside a system can use events to maintain data consistency. We discuss how easy it is to implement both these mechanisms by developing your core business logic using an event-centric approach.

Knowledge Graph Conference 2021
Semantic MediaWiki (SMW), which was introduced as early as in 2006, has since gone on to establish a vital community and is currently one of the few semantic wiki solutions still in existence. SMW is an extension of MediaWiki, the software used for Wikipedia and many other projects, resulting in a largely sustainable codebase and ecosystem. There are many reasons why SMW should not be overlooked by the knowledge graph community:
SMW is capable of directly connecting to several triple stores (Blazegraph, Virtuoso, Jena), which is why it can be considered an interface for entering data into knowledge graphs.
SMW can use its internal relational database (or ElasticSearch), enabling users to build simple knowledge graphs without in-depth knowledge about triple stores.
SMW has the built-in capability of exporting to RDF including building complete RDF data dumps that can be imported into existing knowledge graphs.
SMW has the capability to reuse existing ontologies by importing vocabularies and providing unique identifiers.
The explicit semantic content of Semantic MediaWiki is formally interpreted in the OWL DL ontology language and is made available in XML/RDF format.
A simple internal query language is available to query the internal knowledge graph from within SMW, without the requirement of having a SPARQL endpoint. However, extensions for implementing SPARQL in SMW are available as well.
SMW has the capability to enable data curation for experienced users responsible for the ontology as well as simple form-based input for regular users that can easily populate the KG with data.
There are several approaches to visualizing data in SMW, thus making the knowledge graph visible and interactive.
Implementing custom ontologies in SMW is quite easy, everything is built-in wiki pages (e.g. definition of properties and datatypes, forms and templates).
SMW has low barriers to implementation as it is a clean extension to MediaWiki, which is PHP software running on regular web hosts.
In the talk, I will give an overview of the mentioned aspects and highlight some main differences to Wikibase – which is an alternative approach for managing structured data in MediaWiki – as well as the current limitations of SMW.

Rethinking public sector data ecosystems - Open Government Data, Semantic Med...Bernhard Krabina
In the session the question will be discussed how data from the public sector is generated and made publicly available. Very often, cumbersome processes are in place until finally data (e. g. from official statistics) reach Wikipeda. Often this is done through publication in Open Government Data portals and voluntary efforts to add official data as source in Wikidata.
In the talk, a redesign of the ecosystem of how public sector data is generated, distributed and made available will be presented, facilitating Semantic MediaWiki as data tool. The relation to Wikidata/Wikibase, Open Governmen Data portals and official statistics will be discussed.

In 2020, the Ministry of Home Affairs established a committee led by Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, former Vice Chancellor of National Law University (NLU), Delhi. This committee was tasked with reviewing the three codes of criminal law. The primary objective of the committee was to propose comprehensive reforms to the country’s criminal laws in a manner that is both principled and effective.
The committee’s focus was on ensuring the safety and security of individuals, communities, and the nation as a whole. Throughout its deliberations, the committee aimed to uphold constitutional values such as justice, dignity, and the intrinsic value of each individual. Their goal was to recommend amendments to the criminal laws that align with these values and priorities.
Subsequently, in February, the committee successfully submitted its recommendations regarding amendments to the criminal law. These recommendations are intended to serve as a foundation for enhancing the current legal framework, promoting safety and security, and upholding the constitutional principles of justice, dignity, and the inherent worth of every individual.
