Working Knowledge are a social enterprise education specialist that partners with Schools, Colleges and
Universities across the country to deliver employ led, work experience activities.
I confirm that Darren Clark was a Business Volunteer at our event Employer Aware with Merchant’s
Academy on 5

March. Darren was joined by 24 other business professionals to help inspire and
motivate 129 Year 10 students from Merchants’ Academy in Bristol.
Darren was referred to us by another Business Volunteer and we were thrilled he could participate at our
event. His previous experience of working his way up the career ladder and now owning his own
company was very inspiring for the students to hear about.
His role as a Business Volunteer was to raise the aspirations of these students. Throughout the day the
students develop a new business idea. Darren helped them develop their strategy, provided advice at
business meetings and gave feedback during presentation sessions. Darren shared his experience of the
professional world and gave the students an inspiring insight into what skills they need to succeed after
leaving education.
Our Business Volunteer Facilitator mentioned Darren would be a great role model for the students he
