2. This summer I went to Lima. I stayed for two
months and I lived with a Peruvian family.
Before I came to Peru I was extremely nervous, I had never travelled this far before, and had never
been away from home for so long. I thought that two months would be such a long time, and I was
so scared to live with a family that I had never met, and to live in a country where I didn’t know
anyone! But as soon as I arrived I knew that there was nothing to worry about, everyone was so
friendly and welcoming, and I knew that I was going to have an amazing time!
3. I worked in El Colegio de la Inmaculada. It is a very
big school, and has a large stadium and a zoo with
lots of animals!
I was extremely lucky to have the opportunity to work in the Colegio de la
Inmaculada, it is an incredible school with a lot of amazing facilities which allow the
children to receive a very all rounded education. I have not been to any school in
England which is as amazing as the Inmaculada!
4. At the school I have worked with lots of
lovely students… grade level in the
I was assigned to be an english teaching assistant for first
Inmaculada school, the children in first grade are all extremely friendly, and most
importantly enthusiastic and keen to learn. Their level of english is astounding to me,
in comparison, the language teaching in schools in England is extremely poor. I have
been very lucky to work with such able students!
5. …and have made friends with the teachers who
work here!
All of the teachers at the Inmaculada school are very hard working and focused,
and always have the best interests of the students at heart. They always do their
upmost to teach the children as best they can, and the children love them! The
teachers have always been very kind and helpful to me, and very patient with my
spanish!
6. During my stay I spent two weeks travelling
around Peru with my friends…
Peru is an amazing country, for a traveller it is one of the best places to visit because it
has everything, jungle, beaches, mountains, deserts and beautiful cities, what more
could you want!!
7. …we visited Máncora, Huacachina, Arequipa, Puno
and Cusco, and we saw Macchu Picchu!!
I was so lucky to have the chance to visit all these incredible places, we had such an
amazing time! I have been to so many beautiful places and met so many lovely
people, and my travelling throughout Peru has been an experience that I will never
forget!
8. My time in Peru has been absolutely amazing,
and I don’t want to leave!!
I have gained a lot from my two months in Peru, I feel that my spanish has improved
a lot, and I have gained an invaluable amount of language teaching experience in a
very well respected school. Most importantly I have had the chance to experience a
country completely different to my own and its rich culture and the amazing people
that live there! I hope that I have managed to give something back and to help the
teachers and students at this school, and I will miss everyone I have met here very
much when I return to England. I hope one day to return to Lima!!
