Daimler has acquired a 25% stake in Italian motorcycle manufacturer Agusta as automakers and motorbike companies increasingly converge technologies. Daimler hopes to use Agusta's lightweight engine and emissions reduction technology in hybrid vehicles. The deal is valued at 30 million Euros. Daimler expects benefits like access to Agusta's superbike engines and 3-cylinder motors, as well as its expertise in anti-pollution technologies that could help power range-extended electric cars. The partnership will allow Daimler to expand its revenue and production capabilities by leveraging Agusta's motorcycle technology.
