1) The ALWD Citation Manual was developed in response to a 1997 resolution by the AALS to provide an alternative to the Bluebook. 2) It aims to be consistent with citation practices while also enhancing ease of use and learning through visual aids and examples. 3) Over 90 law schools and 50 paralegal programs have adopted the ALWD Manual, as have some state supreme courts and law journals.
