The shiny new Curve Library (exterior by
bblur architecture, interior by CZWG) is
currently under construction and due to
complete this autumn. The long and lofty
ground floor space is conceived as a piece
of internal public realm creating a ‘short-
cut’ across the town centre; incorporating a
cafe with garden views, ‘quick-pick’ books
and exhibition space en route. Generous
curving staircases will tempt visitors up
to the first floor main library linked by a
rooflit atrium to sceond floor study areas.
Over the past 10 years Slough Borough
Council has been investing in infrastructure
projects to improve the quality of the town
centre public realm.
‘The Curve’ will complete the public
realm masterplan, providing two new
public squares and a distinctive landmark
cultural building in the heart of Slough,
well positioned to benefit from the new
Crossrail link into central London.
