2. Turtlewatch
• Established in 1991 by Royal Air Force
• 16 years of cooperation, this would be 17th
expedition!

3. Main Aims
1. To carry out active conservation work on
the Mediterranean turtles nesting on the
beaches within the SBA, Southern Cyprus
2. To raise an awareness amongst locals about
the need to conserve marine turtles

4. Main Aims
3. To investigate circumstances surrounding
the coastal environment and its
management in the area
4. To provide an opportunity for
undergraduates to experience fieldwork
that will be of benefit to them in their
future careers

5. Accommodation
• Previous years – Temporary
Accommodation at RAF Akrotiri, about 7km
from the turtles nesting beaches.
• Most likely same for 2016 expedition but
could be somewhere else

6. Funding
• Personal contribution = ~ £500
• But 6-7 weeks of field work including food
& accommodation covered
• Grants
• Fundrasing!!

7. Team
• Looking for 8 members including 2 leaders!
• Experience with field work preferred but
not essential
• Passion for nature, science, conservation
and research!
• Hard working and enthusiastic!
