• 6 weeks mid June to end of July
• Working with i-Dive Dahab Dive and Research

• Mostly likely to be staying in a rented
apartment

3. • Small former bedouin fishing village on the
Red Sea coast
• Site for GU 4th year tropical ecology field trip

4. Current political situation
• Area around Dahab and airport considered
safe
• This years expedition experienced no problems
• i-Dive centre report calm to this day
• Continued fieldwork by the uni in the area
• However, situation will be monitored
throughout the year; if it changes, alternative
marine research stations will be looked into
5. Research topics
• Expansion of this years research:
– Photo-ID of butterfly fish and groupers
– Coralline algae
– Socio-economic study of fishery supply chains
– Parasite study
– MPAs
• Ideal opportunity to carry out the fieldwork
for honours and masters projects
• New research ideas welcomed!

• 6-8 members from University of Glasgow,
including 2 leaders
• Collaborate with students from Suez Canal
University

completely in charge of expedition
