CYCLING
Why Cycle?
Cycling solves so many problems at once:
•

You’ll get fit – cycling is one of the best forms of exercise you can get.

•

Cycling is good for the planet – bikes don’t pollute the air with exhaust
fumes, the only energy they use is pedal power!

•

Cycling at least twenty miles a week reduces the risk of heart disease to less
than half that for non-cyclists who take no other exercise.

•

There’s a brand new world for you to discover when you get in the saddle,
whether you’re cycling to school or riding around in your free time with
your mates.

•

Cycling gives you loads of freedom – you can pop round to a mate’s house
without having to wait for a lift.
Traffic jam is one of the greatest
problem.

Bicycle Culture is Growing
•

Increasing congestion on urban roads presents a serious
threat to the economic growth and livability of our city
regions. Investing in public transport, cycling and walking
helps take cars off the road, keeping our cities moving and
growing sustainable.

•

Bicycles are the only vehicle in Dhaka City which has a very
unique characteristic feature compared to other vehicles.
Way out from sedentary lifestyle.
• Think about only two generations earlier.
• Very active, physically.
• We are designed to use our body for our daily
commutes.
• Cycling helps us to put the balance back into
equilibrium.
Let’s look out at some benefits
• Unlike other high-energy sports, bike riding has a
much lower risk of injury as there is none of the
physical contact between athletes found in football or
rugby, while it is much gentler on the knee and ankle
joints than long-distance running.
• Biking does not only have to be done as a sport. A
study by the International Bicycle Fund found
commuters who begin to ride their bicycles to and
from work instead of driving lose an average of 13
pounds during their first year of biking.
• As road racing is a team-based pursuit, it is an
excellent way to develop communication skills and
learn to work effectively with other people.
Cycling as an outdoor fun activity for
the people of DHAKA.
• Social bonding between people.
• Bridges and social divides.
• Promotes social trust.
Did you know?
Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, the Netherlands
