• Responsible for civil work issues in Basic and Detailed Design, control of design deliverables that
comprises about 15,000 documents, certification of detailed design, design review, analysis of the
project.
• Preparation and coordination of meetings with Panel of Consultants;
• Dealing with interface issues between civil basic design and electromechanical design, meetings with
suppliers of hydro-mechanical equipment, turbine and generators.
• Responsible for Dam Safety issues and monitoring of instruments.
• Review and analyse Contractor’s claims
• Assist in commissioning and preliminary acceptance of the civil works

The main structures of the Project are in 04 Construction sites at one distance among then of 50km, and
comprise the following:
06 dams, 30 Dikes, 02 Powerhouses (one with 11,000MW and other with 233.1 MW), 01 Spillway
(62,000m3/s), 01 Power Canal with 20 km length.

Eight power tunnels with concrete and steel lined sections having internal finished diameters of 8.5m, 7.0m
and 4.85m respectively. Total length of the power Tunnels 4600m.
Water release Outlet at Diversion Tunnel No. 1 to be utilized as a riparian release facility and subsequently
plugged with concrete after impounding. Diversion Tunnels 2 and 3 to be plugged with concrete following
closure at start of impounding.

My role : Responsible for the management, supervision and quality control of all civil works of the 2nd
powerhouse and Navigation Locks such as: mass concrete, structural concrete and roller compacted
concrete(RCC), in the structures : Power Intake, Gravity wall and Powerhouse.
Responsible for the Roller Compacted Concrete RCC in Power Intake and Gravity Wall with a volume of
480,000 m3.
Responsible for Civil Works of the heightening of the Tucurui Dam with increasing of the reservoir storage.
Responsible for Civil Works of the Navigation Locks.
Total concrete volume of the Civil Works of the Dam: 1,700,000m3

My role: Consultant for Tianshengqiao I-CFRD Hydroelectric Project as Senior Contract Management
Engineer and Technical Advice for Construction Supervision of the CFRD- Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam.
Senior Contract Management Engineer responsible for assisting with the supervision and monitoring of the
construction and contract management on the 178 m high CFRD. Other duties included analysis and advice of
the monitoring of the dam embankment, plinth and the concrete face slab.
My duties included the supervision of construction of a 178m high CFRD, 1160m long with rockfill volume of
18 million cubic meters and a concrete face slab of 160,000 square meters with a concrete volume of 100,200
m3, the Spillway with 1750m long, 120m wide spillway channel with the total rock excavation of 18,4 million
m3 and total concrete volume of 100,200m3, a Diversion Tunnel Plug with the total concrete volume of
4,000m3.

My duties: Responsible for the Supervision and quality control of all the civil works, of earth fill, concrete
faced rock fill dam (CFRD), Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) and concrete works, in charge at peak of 320
employees comprising engineers, technicians, inspectors and laboratory staff.
The civil works included the followings:
Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam (CFRD), 140m high, Roller Compacted Concrete-RCC of the overtopping
section of the main dam, 50 m high and under of the Spillway Flip Bucket.
.Dikes, Cofferdams, plinth, concrete face slab, water intake, powerhouse, draft tube, penstocks, outlet,
diversion tunnels, gravity walls, spillway, pumped concrete, concrete repair works, grouting in tunnels,
anchorage, and grouting.
Roller Compacted Concrete- RCC Volume: 100,000m3, total concrete volume; 1,200 millions
m3
1979 -1987

refrigerated concrete pouring in structures such as: Powerhouse, Draft Tube, Penstock, Assembly Hall, outlet,
Gravity Wall, Generator Pit, Discharge Ring, Stator Seat Ring, Spillway;

oncrete mix and concrete structure temperature calculations and control of two Concrete Batching Plants,
Johnson type (240 m3
/h) and Cifa (180 m3

Study for determination of height concrete layers in the works; and
Follow-up of instrumentation assembly in concrete works structure of the following instruments: "Carlson"
type electric extensometer and joint gauges, frame thermometer and tensiometer, electric and hydraulic
piezometers, extensometers of large seat, triorthogonal meter, clinometric chain, load cells in
prestressed cables.

Major responsibility included the following work items:
foundation investigation through inspection pits along the dam axis;
geotechnical field and laboratory investigations to know materials qualitative and quantitative; investigation of
clayey soils for the impervious core, sandy soils for the transition, gravel for coarse transition and concrete
materials; and
concrete technology: inspections of cement plants, special trials of concrete physical trials of cement, fly-ash,
and pozzolan, aggregates, admixtures, grouting, mix design for mass, structural and roller compacted concrete.
Combined Bridge (Steel-Concrete) over São Francisco River Project Concrete Engineer: concrete
quality control; topographic and mechanical instrumentation of all stages of metallic span concrete,
temperature and concrete deformation control through instrumentation.
The bridge is the reinforced concrete infrastructure, steel reinforced concrete superstructure, length: 267m,
clear span: 140 m, central span: 90m (steel).
1974 – 1976

Position: Site Engineer
Responsible for supervision of construction of railway bridge over Jaguari River with 425m long with
intermediate spans of 25m, foundations for central columns in 16 compressed air caissons, direct foundation
for remaining columns, structural concrete volume of 6,000m3
and slip forms area of 4,500m2
. Also
responsible for construction bridges over the Quebracho, Santa Tereza and Negro Rivers in total length of
superstructure 200m, direct foundation and compressed air caissons, and slip forms.
1972 – 1974

Position: Resident Engineer
My role: Resident Engineer- Responsible for supervision of earthworks, pavement and supplementary works
in highway and bridges in section Ceres- Porangatu- Goias. The concrete structures included the followings:
-Bridge over the Mato Grosso brook: extension 22 m; with pile foundations.
-Bridge over the Vai-e-Vem brook: extension 22.40 m, with direct foundation.
-Bridge over the Itinguijada brook: extension 31 m, with direct foundation.
-Box culvert for the Isalas brook: extension 27.15 m, 3.50 x 3.50 section (single).
-Box culvert for the 673 pile: extension 34.90 m, 3.50 x 3.50 single section.

Responsible for supervision of municipal highways in an extension of 120km. Tasks included execution of
urban roads pavement by a process of hot and cold asphalt .
Responsible for supervision of construction and concrete quality control, of the following bridges:
Bridge over the Vaza- Barris River, 1890 m long, with direct foundation.
Bridge over the Piaui River, 200 m long, in direct foundation.
Bridge over the Real River, 300 m long, in pre-stressed concrete, with foundation in compressed air caisson.

SNOWY MOUNTAINS ENGINEERING CORPORATION (SMEC- Australia) 2006-2008 Employer: Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC)- Branch Malaysia Project: Bakun Hydroelectric Project ( 8 x 300MW-2400MW)- Malaysia Owner and Client: Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd- Malaysia Position: Deputy General Manager main Dam, Power Tunnels and Diversion Tunnels Responsible for Supervision of civil works of: Main Dam, a 205 m high Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam (CFRD) with crest length of 750m and rockfill volume of 16.71 million cubic meters. Eight power tunnels with concrete and steel lined sections having internal finished diameters of 8.5m, 7.0m and 4.85m respectively. Total length of the power Tunnels 4600m. Water release Outlet at Diversion Tunnel No. 1 to be utilized as a riparian release facility and subsequently plugged with concrete after impounding. Diversion Tunnels 2 and 3 to be plugged with concrete following closure at start of impounding. 4. CENTRAIS ELETRICAS DO NORTE DO BRASIL S/A ( ELETRONORTE) 1999 – 2006 Employer: Centrais Eletricas do Norte do Brasil S/A- Eletronorte Project: Tucurui Hydroelectric Project- 8370MW (12x350MW+2x22.5MW+11x375MW)-Brazil Owner and Client: Centrais Eletricas do Norte do Brasil S/A- Eletronorte Position: Manager of Civil Works 2nd .Power Intake and Powerhouse and Navigation Locks My role : Responsible for the management, supervision and quality control of all civil works of the 2nd powerhouse and Navigation Locks such as: mass concrete, structural concrete and roller compacted concrete(RCC), in the structures : Power Intake, Gravity wall and Powerhouse. Responsible for the Roller Compacted Concrete RCC in Power Intake and Gravity Wall with a volume of 480,000 m3. Responsible for Civil Works of the heightening of the Tucurui Dam with increasing of the reservoir storage. Responsible for Civil Works of the Navigation Locks. HIDROSERVICE INTERNATIONAL LTD 1995-1999 Employer: Hidroservice International Ltd Project: Tianshengqiao I Hydropower Project- China 1200MW ( 4x 300MW) Client: South China Electric Power Joint Venture Corporation- SCEP Position: Consultant Engineer for EPDC- Electric Power Development Co., Ltd.-(Japan), NipponKoei (Japan), SMEC (Australia) and Hidroservice International Ltd-(Brazil) My role: Consultant for Tianshengqiao I-CFRD Hydroelectric Project as Senior Contract Management Engineer and Technical Advice for Construction Supervision of the CFRD- Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam. Senior Contract Management Engineer responsible for assisting with the supervision and monitoring of the construction and contract management on the 178 m high CFRD. Other duties included analysis and advice of the monitoring of the dam embankment, plinth and the concrete face slab. My duties included the supervision of construction of a 178m high CFRD, 1160m long with rockfill volume of 18 million cubic meters and a concrete face slab of 160,000 square meters with a concrete volume of 100,200 m3, the Spillway with 1750m long, 120m wide spillway channel with the total rock excavation of 18,4 million m3 and total concrete volume of 100,200m3, a Diversion Tunnel Plug with the total concrete volume of 4,000m3. 6. HIDROSERVICE ENGENHARIA LTDA 1987 - 1995 Employer: Hidroservice Engenharia Ltda Project : Xingó Hydroelectric Project, Brazil ( 3000MW- 6x 500MW) Client: Companhia Hidro Eletrica do Sao Francisco- CHESF Position: Resident Engineer My duties: Responsible for the Supervision and quality control of all the civil works, of earth fill, concrete faced rock fill dam (CFRD), Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) and concrete works, in charge at peak of 320 employees comprising engineers, technicians, inspectors and laboratory staff. The civil works included the followings: Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam (CFRD), 140m high, Roller Compacted Concrete-RCC of the overtopping section of the main dam, 50 m high and under of the Spillway Flip Bucket. .Dikes, Cofferdams, plinth, concrete face slab, water intake, powerhouse, draft tube, penstocks, outlet, diversion tunnels, gravity walls, spillway, pumped concrete, concrete repair works, grouting in tunnels, anchorage, and grouting. Roller Compacted Concrete- RCC Volume: 100,000m3, total concrete volume; 1,200 millions m3 1979 -1987 Employer: Hidroservice Engenharia Ltda Project : Itaparica Hydroelectric Project, Brazil ( 1500 MW- 6x 250MW) Client: Companhia Hidro Eletrica do Sao Francisco- CHESF Position: Concrete Manager Engineer Major responsibility included the following work items: Dam: Earth and Rockfill Dam, 105m high, 9million cubic meters . Concrete and material quality control, a pouring volume of 2,400,000 m3 ; Planning study and analysis for refrigerated concrete pouring in structures such as: Powerhouse, Draft Tube, Penstock, Assembly Hall, outlet, Gravity Wall, Generator Pit, Discharge Ring, Stator Seat Ring, Spillway;
  • 5. 5 oncrete mix and concrete structure temperature calculations and control of two Concrete Batching Plants, Johnson type (240 m3 /h) and Cifa (180 m3 /h); Study for determination of height concrete layers in the works; and Follow-up of instrumentation assembly in concrete works structure of the following instruments: "Carlson" type electric extensometer and joint gauges, frame thermometer and tensiometer, electric and hydraulic piezometers, extensometers of large seat, triorthogonal meter, clinometric chain, load cells in prestressed cables. 1976-1979 Employer: Hidroservice Engenharia Ltda Project : Itaparica Hydroelectric Project, Brazil ( 1500 MW- 6x 250MW) Client: Companhia Hidro Eletrica do Sao Francisco- CHESF Position: Head Engineer of Soil and Concrete Laboratory / Concrete Engineer Major responsibility included the following work items: foundation investigation through inspection pits along the dam axis; geotechnical field and laboratory investigations to know materials qualitative and quantitative; investigation of clayey soils for the impervious core, sandy soils for the transition, gravel for coarse transition and concrete materials; and concrete technology: inspections of cement plants, special trials of concrete physical trials of cement, fly-ash, and pozzolan, aggregates, admixtures, grouting, mix design for mass, structural and roller compacted concrete. Combined Bridge (Steel-Concrete) over São Francisco River Project Concrete Engineer: concrete quality control; topographic and mechanical instrumentation of all stages of metallic span concrete, temperature and concrete deformation control through instrumentation. The bridge is the reinforced concrete infrastructure, steel reinforced concrete superstructure, length: 267m, clear span: 140 m, central span: 90m (steel). 1974 – 1976 Employer: Hidroservice Engenharia Ltda Project : Railway Cacequí - Porto do Rio Grande, Brazil Client: Rede Ferroviaria Federal- RG do Sul- Brazil Position: Site Engineer Responsible for supervision of construction of railway bridge over Jaguari River with 425m long with intermediate spans of 25m, foundations for central columns in 16 compressed air caissons, direct foundation for remaining columns, structural concrete volume of 6,000m3 and slip forms area of 4,500m2 . Also responsible for construction bridges over the Quebracho, Santa Tereza and Negro Rivers in total length of superstructure 200m, direct foundation and compressed air caissons, and slip forms. 1972 – 1974 Employer: Hidroservice Engenharia Ltda Project : Highway Belem-Brasilia, Brazil Client: Departamento Nacional de Estradas de Rodagem-DNER Position: Resident Engineer My role: Resident Engineer- Responsible for supervision of earthworks, pavement and supplementary works in highway and bridges in section Ceres- Porangatu- Goias. The concrete structures included the followings: -Bridge over the Mato Grosso brook: extension 22 m; with pile foundations. -Bridge over the Vai-e-Vem brook: extension 22.40 m, with direct foundation. -Bridge over the Itinguijada brook: extension 31 m, with direct foundation. -Box culvert for the Isalas brook: extension 27.15 m, 3.50 x 3.50 section (single). -Box culvert for the 673 pile: extension 34.90 m, 3.50 x 3.50 single section.

Tasks included execution of urban roads pavement by a process of hot and cold asphalt . Responsible for supervision of construction and concrete quality control, of the following bridges: Bridge over the Vaza- Barris River, 1890 m long, with direct foundation. Bridge over the Piaui River, 200 m long, in direct foundation.
