Hima P. Mehta is pursuing an MTech in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Hyderabad in Hyderabad, India. She has a background in computer application and technology as well as computer science. During her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, she gained knowledge of programming languages like C, Java, PHP, ASP.NET and skills in data analysis. Her interests lie in areas like machine learning, neural networks, and image processing. She is currently taking courses in machine learning, computational intelligence, and human-computer interaction as part of her MTech program.

The immense potential a machine possess to solve a gievn problem quicker relative to humans,
has always intrigued me and eventually tempted me to study such ability to understand
underlying patterns. My interest was kept alive by my engagement in developing algorithms for
various problems. I took it a step further by taking up Computer Application and Technology as
major for my undergraduate studies.
During the three years of my undergraduate study (Bsc), I acquired basic knowledge in
computer languages, different aspects of creating algorithms as well as applications which
makes human life easier. In the process I developed strong command over C language and
OOPs that helped me to learn few modern languages like java, Php .
Besides this, my undergraduate project was done using Visual Basic as Front End. The project
involved a system that had automated reservation of buses, as well as generation of ticket and
route maps. Furthermore I sharpened my logical ability by developing various games like
“snakes and ladders” and “Hangman” to name couple of them.
After graduation i continued with my postgraduate studies(Msc) in the same field, specialising
in Computer Application and IT . My knowledge base was enriched with advanced languages
like Asp.net framework version 3.5 and 4 , Core and Advanced Java , Javascript,Html/Dhtml.
However, it was my special interest in statistics that gave me an edge in data analysis and led to
my decision to take “Digital image processing”, “Neural networks” and “GIS” as subjects during
my final year of Msc. In my final year, my small research and report on “Content Based Image
retrieval” was selected as one of the best report from among 100 other reports.

2. After getting 97.45 percentile in GATE I joined Mtech specializing Artificial intelligence in
University Of Hyderabad from July 2013 . In sem I I got chance to deal with theory and practical
aspects of subjects like Problem Solving Methods in AI , Knowledge Representation and
reasoning , Advanced Algorithms which includes to solve many real time simple and complex
problems , Image processing ,Pattern Recognition and Lab work including Unix programming..
Right now I’m pursuing sem II with subjects like
1) Machine Learning in which I’ll be gaining various techniques and Apps of machine
learning,
2) Computational Intelligence which introduces the concepts of computational intelligence
/ soft computing including neural networks (NN), evolutionary and genetic algorithms
(GA), fuzzy logic, neuro-fuzzy techniques and rough set theory.
3) Human Computer Interaction
4) AI lab which includes LISP; PROLOG; SCRIPTING (PYTHON, PERL); ES SHELLS, Haskell,Julia
Besides academics, I am trained swimmer and have participated in various state level
championships.
