Prior to police service I worked for three years in the hospitality industry, including bars and
later hotels as a management trainee within a large hotel group, Crest Hotels, based in both
Portsmouth & Cardiff. Here I gained extensive training in customer service and customer
focus.
Much of my work experience was gained in pressured environments, working under the
scrutiny of managers and often the critical eye of both the press and public. Whilst in covert
work in many cases, I was exposed to risk that required me to manage both pressure and
personal safety concerns without frustrating the purpose of the deployment.
Managing pressure has become a skill in itself and I feel able to cope with any situation
presented to me in a calm and thoughtful manner.
