Agencies. I have managed to lead the negotiations into a final agreement for the adoption of:
- the Regulation establishing rules for the surveillance of external Sea Borders during the joint
sea operations of Frontex
- the EU Maritime Security Strategy
- the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive and
- the Council Conclusions for the Integrated Maritime Policy.
The conclusion of trilogues on the legislative folders have been achieved after intensive negotiations
within a very demanding and limited timeframe of 45 days imposing by the European Parliament
elections (May 2014)

Job-related skills I posses a 23 years experience as an officer of the Greek Coast Guard. Posted in positions
related with shipping policy, port policy, ship and port facilities security and sea borders
management.
I have enthusiastic interest in European affairs and commitment to European integration, as well
as an excellent understanding of EU Integrated Maritime Policy (IMP), EU Maritime Security
Strategy, EU migration and asylum policies, gained through my 4 years experience as a JHA and
IMP Counsellor of the Perm. Rep. of Greece to the EU.
From Sep’ 2011 until June 2015, I have participated in several high level EU meetings and in all
the Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial Councils in Brussels and Luxembourg observing,
counseling and reporting on decisions and policy-making proceedings first-hand
My experience as an IMP and Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) counsellor of the Greek Perm. Rep.
in the EU, as well as my experience as a chairman in 3 working groups of the Council of the EU
