Paola G. Caballero León is a student at the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey studying for a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Her main career goal is to study Medicine and specialize in Endocrinology, and she is also interested in conducting research in this field. She has experience using various laboratory techniques and equipment during her degree coursework. She has participated in research programs, including a summer bridge program where she wrote a research proposal on pesticide resistance in bees. She is a member of the American Chemical Society and has worked as a documentation administrator and math tutor.

Career Goals
My main career goal is to study Medicine and specialize in the field of Endocrinology. I am also
interested in conducting research in this area because it would be a way to expand my
knowledge in and achieve a wider understanding of the molecular processes that control and
determine vital functions of our bodies. Conducting research would be an amazing opportunity
that will enrich my professional life and will be a way to contribute to the scientific community
and to the world.

2. Research experience
RISE Program
This program offers students the opportunity to submerge themselves in the world of research. As
anincoming graduated high school student, I participated in the Summer Bridge Experience.
During the summer of 2013, I worked with a research proposal, which is the final project to
conclude the Summer Bridge Experience.
Summer 2013
Research Proposal “Pesticide Resistance in Bees”
Electronic Portfolio
I also participated in the next component of the RISE Program which is the Scientific Literature
Course. During this course, I learned to work with scientific articles and to use them for the
creation of a Review Article. Both the Summer Research Proposal and the Review Article are
available in my electronic portfolio. The address for the portfolio is above in my contact
information.
