Telemedicine may be an option to face present health context characterised
by budgetary constraints and the scarcity of medical professionals. Most health
care bucket is spent on patients with chronic diseases. There are several ways to
mitigate the negative effects of chronic diseases. Two of them are selfmanagement initiatives and patient-monitoring systems. Self-management
initivatives improve the living conditions of patients whereas self-monitoring
systems can reduce health care costs by avoiding regular visits to the doctor.
Present work aims to develop an in-home self-management patientmonitoring system which will allow doctors to monitor the patient health status
and will provide support to patients on their decision-making which affects their
health conditions.
