Decision making in management for large medical equipmentHTAi Bilbao 2012
This document discusses decision making for purchasing large medical equipment like MRI machines. It presents data showing differences in MRI availability between countries. There are challenges in decision making due to varying supplier policies, objectives of health facilities, and heterogeneous information. A methodology is proposed to help with rational choice involving developing a system for equipment selection and procurement. Experts would be evaluated and their competence indexed based on both objective and subjective criteria. Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) techniques could be applied to determine priority weights for MRI machine characteristics through pairwise comparisons. Predictions could also be made on how weights may change. This would help create a ranked list of recommended MRI machine options.

Knowledge workers make up a significant portion of the global workforce, estimated between 41-66 million in the US alone. However, current search tools are often ineffective, with typical organization search success rates between 40-70% and employees spending on average 19 hours per week searching for information, of which 4.8 hours are wasted due to failed searches. The annual cost of failed searches in organizations with 1,000 knowledge workers is estimated at $5.3 million per year. A new search tool called Jumper 2.0 aims to improve search success by enabling knowledge workers to share information across a variety of file types and power searches through community collaboration.

* Formación académica
* Innovación
* Participación
* Sumo
* Velocistas
* Rastreadores
* Prueba de programación de microcontroladores 2009
En Robolid 2010:
* Sumo
* Minisumo
* Velocistas
* Rastreadores
* Prueba de programación de microcontroladores 2010

Jayaprakash Narayan was one of India's leading nationalist and social reform leaders in the 20th century. He was born in 1902 in a village in Bihar and showed an early interest in nationalism. As a young man, he studied in the US and was influenced by leftist ideas. He helped establish the Congress Socialist Party within the Indian National Congress and worked to direct the independence movement. After independence, JP left formal politics and focused on rural development causes, promoting self-sufficient villages. During the Emergency period in 1975, he led opposition to Indira Gandhi's authoritarian rule and was imprisoned. Known as "Loknayak," or leader of the masses, JP dedicated his life to serving the Indian people.

1) Problem-based learning (PBL) began in 1969 at McMaster University and focuses learning around problem solving.
2) The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of PBL exercises on understanding, learning retention, communication skills, and interpersonal relationships in undergraduate pre-health students.
3) Results showed that students scored higher on post-tests after PBL activities compared to pre-tests, and retained material better from PBL than traditional lectures up to 60 days later. Student surveys also responded positively to PBL exercises.
This presentation discusses key issues related to using student test scores in teacher evaluations. It notes that growth measures can be inconsistent across different tests or years due to variations in test design, administration conditions, and statistical models. Specifically, teacher evaluations may be unreliable due to differences between spring-to-spring testing and instability in value-added estimates from year to year. The presentation also cautions that value-added models are normative and do not capture progress of all students over time.
The document describes the process used to develop training materials for paraeducators on assisting students with autism. It involved:
1. Identifying the necessary knowledge and skills through an advisory panel and reviewing existing materials to avoid duplication.
2. Writing the course materials which were reviewed by panelists and revised based on feedback.
3. Field testing the materials by training trainers, then paraeducators, and evaluating the quality of instruction and skills application.
4. Finalizing the materials based on feedback which showed the training significantly increased participants' knowledge with a large effect size.

Are Games and Simulations a Good Fit for Your Curriculum?Eric B. Bauman
Distance Teaching & Learning Conference
Information Session: Are Games and Simulations a Good 'Fit' for Your Curriculum?
Authors: Penny Ralston-Berg and Eric B. Bauman
The conversation was very active as we discussed strategies and key questions to ask in determining what makes a good curricular “fit” for games and simulations. Examples were shown from a variety of subject matter and the audience had a chance to walk through the process of determining fit based on learning objectives. We also stepped out side the instructional alignment and talked about the value of "ridiculous games" for stress relief and cognitive down time between other intense tasks.

Bauman Authors@HSLC: Game-Based Teaching & Simulation for Nursing & HealthcareEric B. Bauman
This presentation accompanied the Nov. 8, 2012 book talk at the University of Wisconsin Authors@HSLC series by Dr. Eric B. Bauman. Bauman discussed his recently published text Game-Based Teaching and Simulation for Nursing and Healthcare. The complete video of the talk can be found at: http://videos.med.wisc.edu/videos/43065
This document proposes using virtual worlds and mannequin-based simulations together to teach patient assessment, decision-making, and communication skills. It suggests several approaches, including using virtual simulations for orientation and practice before physical simulations, or using them in parallel for parts of a scenario. This complementary approach could address challenges like scheduling limitations and lack of hands-on practice in virtual simulations alone. It emphasizes using virtual worlds to practice SBAR communication skills and allows for tracking learner data.
