Updates can range from student artwork to news articles, accolades to
exhibitions and artist lecture series videos to local art events, which is used as a
way to drive people to the art department’s website. Our website is updated
weekly by the teacher, which showcases videos, online portfolio, assignments,
parent page, resources and extra credit opportunities. It also introduces two art
programs, Artist Lecture Series and Raider Community Art Club.

Facebook provides NHS art alumni the opportunity to join the Sheboygan North
High Art Dept group on facebook to stay connected. It allows them to see what
events are taking place as well as to be able to see the many works of art
students are producing in the art dept. Via facebook, our website is linked for
easy access to more information about what is happening in the art dept.

Sheboygan community access to items such as but not limited to: student art
portfolios, resources, Raider Community Art Club, Artist Lecture Series, and so
on. For students and parents – there is an Assignment tab, which will provide an

A classroom blog has been created to share what is happening within the art
classroom. This allows us to share more content online. Examples of blog entries
are the design for the NHS & SHS AIDA museum-style banners and Artist
Lecture Series.

Advanced art students (Drawing Intensive – AP Portfolio) were assigned online assignments that are
designed to provide them with a diverse offering of various activities that will assist in their online
participation by understanding differences between posts, forums, uploads, blog; art appreciation and
awareness of how much art exists within their community.

These two social media outlets are used to teach and reinforce 21st Century Skills in today’s
technology infused world. These skills are re-introduced in traditional ways inside the art classroom.
Some applications range from projects such as NHS & SHS AIDA museum-style banners and the
Raider Community Art Club.

Critiques and self-reflections are some ways in which students are able to share their ideas, thoughts
as well as being able to communicate their purpose in creating a specific project. These types of
formative assessments are evaluated through the 6-Trait Writing rubric.

  • 27. Student Directed Ning.com | raiderart53083.ning.com Advanced art students (Drawing Intensive – AP Portfolio) were assigned online assignments that are designed to provide them with a diverse offering of various activities that will assist in their online participation by understanding differences between posts, forums, uploads, blog; art appreciation and awareness of how much art exists within their community. These two social media outlets are used to teach and reinforce 21st Century Skills in today’s technology infused world. These skills are re-introduced in traditional ways inside the art classroom. Some applications range from projects such as NHS & SHS AIDA museum-style banners and the Raider Community Art Club. Critiques and self-reflections are some ways in which students are able to share their ideas, thoughts as well as being able to communicate their purpose in creating a specific project. These types of formative assessments are evaluated through the 6-Trait Writing rubric. ©2011 All images copyrighted by Frank Juarez. All rights reserved.
