Indonesian culture can be summarized in 3 factors: 1) Context - Indonesians have a high context culture where more meaning is derived from indirect messages rather than direct statements. Relationships are valued over tasks. 2) Time - Indonesians have a polychronic culture where many tasks are done simultaneously. Meetings and conversations can cover multiple unrelated topics. 3) Space - Indonesians prefer to maintain a respectful personal distance of about 1 meter between individuals, especially with new acquaintances, to allow for social interaction and influence between people.
