2. GOAL
Students will analyze, write and discuss about
general and specific information about family
and how it has changed using audiovisual and
written materials on topics related to the
changes families have experienced over the
past few years, from traditional families to
modern families, how these changes have
affected society, and why these changes have
occurred.
3. UNIT SCENARIO
There has been a significant change in family
structure over the last few years that has
modified the role of families into society
drastically, and at the same time it has
created a lot of controversy around the world.
4. GUIDING QUESTIONS
How are traditional families different from
modern families?
How can families be classified nowadays?
How have family changes affected society?
Why has family structure changed?
5. CULMINATING ACTIVITY
CHANGING FAMILIES ARTICLE
Students will write an article explaining why
families have changed recently. Students will
work in pairs and write a brief summary of
approximately 100 words outlining their
conclusions from this study of the changes in
family structure. Indicate how these trends were
influenced by different factors using the
information seen in the thematic unit, or guiding
questions. Then pairs should read their articles to
the class as their classmates take notes. Once all
pairs have read their articles, students start
discussing why family changes occurred.
