2. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our supporters, donors and
fundraisers who make a difference to patients' lives at Cork University Hospital
each and every day. Here are some highlights of the work that you have helped
us achieve this year.
A new space for Speech & Language Therapy
Patients
This year we provided funding to the Speech and Language Therapy
Department in CUH to renovate and refurbish their unit.This new space is now
used for patients' clinical sessions, administrative tasks, staff meetings and
desk- based project work. The impact of this improved space means so much
to the Speech and Language Therapists. They can meet their patients in a
bright, spacious environment away from busy wards allowing patients to get
maximum benefit from their therapy.

3. A completely renovated Stomatherapy Unit is due to open it's doors in the new
year, meaning that the number of patients seen at the unit will be doubled,
there will be greater levels of privacy for patients, ventilation and an overall
enhanced working environment for patients and staff at the unit.

4. Work progressing on the Quiet Room, CUMH
Works are almost complete on the Quiet Room at CUMH, a quiet haven for
parents and families who have experienced pregnancy bereavement and loss.
At this point all of the painting work has been finished, a new sofa, curtains and
wooden flooring have been installed and custom-made furniture has been
created for the specific needs of the Quiet Room.
Relentless Rowers take on the Atlantic this
Christmas!

5. As we sit down for our Christmas dinner this year the Relentless Rowers, a
crew made up of three Cork doctors and one Dublin businessman will be well
on the way to completing half of the 5,500 km Taliskey Whiskey Atlantic
Challenge from the Canary Islands to Antigua. These are possibly the bravest
men you will ever meet!
