1. Prayer for an End to the Coronavirus
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign
of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain,
with steadfast faith.
You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.
We are certain that you will provide, so that,
as you did at Cana of Galilee,
joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform ourselves to the Father’s will
and to do what Jesus tells us:
He who took our sufferings upon Himself,
and bore our sorrows to bring us,
through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection.
Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test
– and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessedVirgin.
Uncertain Times
We are living in uncertain times and a very changed world. The
continued presence of the coronavirus has changed our lives, our
security and many of our plans. Now we have to think and plan our
journey and our destination and it appears that the end is not where to
be found. For some the presence of the coronavirus has meant little
difference, for others the loss of job and an uncertain future. For many
businesses it has become a major obstacle and an ever present danger.
For our Church it has in line with government directive brought an end
to our ability to worship and gather for Mass and prayer. In an
uncertain world and future where do we find hope, courage and
strength? The Gospels remind us that challenges face our world at
every turn and our world informs us that life is not certain and secure.
In all of this we need to find hope and courage in each other and in the
everpresence of God. He is the one who walks with us into the
celebrations of life, into the moments of everyday life and to the foot of
Calvary and beyond. The call is for us to recognise Him and to call on
Him for strength, courage and hope.
