The document discusses CSS layout techniques including the box model, positioning, and grid systems. It covers the box model components of margin, border, padding, and content. For positioning, it describes relative, absolute and fixed positioning and how they affect element placement. It also discusses floating boxes and how they are removed from the normal flow of the document. Finally, it mentions Twitter Bootstrap's grid system as a case study for building page layouts with CSS.

Git is a free and open source distributed version control system designed to handle everything from small to very large projects with speed and efficiency.
Git is easy to learn and has a tiny footprint with lightning fast performance. It outclasses SCM tools like Subversion, CVS, Perforce, and ClearCase with features like cheap local branching, convenient staging areas, and multiple workflows.
Like JavaScript, there is a tendency to learn CSS using the View Source technique. This high level overview will focus on what you should do and what you should not do - providing enough CSS knowledge to be dangerous!
10 Advanced CSS Techniques (You Wish You Knew More About)Emily Lewis
Presentation for Webuquerque's November 2, 2011 event.
Practical examples of some of the latest CSS 3 techniques (and a few often-forgotten CSS 2.1 ones) including: image-free gradients and text shadows, attribute selectors, transitions and transforms, and media queries

An exploration of the techniques required to build responsive web applications that can support the multitude of devices around today, as well as prepared for the devices of the future.
We will cover whole of the web development basics comprising of HTML, CSS, JavaScript in this series.
Following are topics useful for any newbie to intermediate who is interested in learning Web Development
6. Positioning: Relative WebDesignMeetup
• If you relatively position an element, it will
stay exactly where it is.
7. Positioning: Absolute WebDesignMeetup
• absolute positioning takes the element out
of the flow of the document, thus taking up
no space
8. Positioning: Fixed WebDesignMeetup
• Is a subcategory of absolute positioning.
• The difference is that a fixed element’s
containing block is the viewport. This allows
you to create floating elements that always
stay at the same position in the window
9. Floating box WebDesignMeetup
• A floated box can either be shifted to the
left or the right until its outer edge touches
the edge of its containing box or another
floated box.
• floated boxes aren’t in the normal flow of
the document, thus block boxes in the
regular flow of the document behave as if
the floated box wasn’t there.
