Tenochtitlan And Ix Summary
Tenochtitlan and Po. And Ix. Both took place in Mexico and both shared facts about Mexico
and the land in different ways. One mostly told a mythical story but talked about the landform as
the other talked about how people in Tenochtitlan and nonfictional facts about the land and city.
So both are not the same but they share some common interest. The Tenochtitlan story mainly
told about a city in Mexico and how they survived and lived. It describes how they developed on
the island and how the city first originated. Life over there was also involved with the Aztecs and
why they made the choice to move to a swampy land. Nowadays the city has been partly
destroyed due to the Spanish and Hernan Cortes which the ruins is today located near the center of
Mexico City. Back then the whole city s roads were made of canals which was mostly intended...

However, they re both located near the same city and both take place in Mexico. Tenochtitlan
was primarily based on an urban development structure as the other was based on a tragic
romance based on a bad lie told to the married warrior and princess. I m probably sure that they
shared the same culture since there both in the same country and possibly practice the same
ceremonies and practices, so yeah they could have some similarities and some could be
contrasted. Both can t be compared too easily mostly because of the type of story it is and
because of what they tell about, but they did have some similarities on the other hand. They both
took place in Mexico and were located near Mexico City. So mainly they were stories held in
Mexico and both did traditions in the same culture. Yeah I could say that there wasn t extreme
differences, but they do have some similarities hiding in the back. You just have to read about it and

Ambitious Leaders THESIS: In Macbeth, the author, William Shakespeare, uses Macbeth s
vaulting ambition to show how misused ambition can be a flaw. In Macbeth, the author, William
Shakespeare, uses Macbeth s vaulting ambition to show how misused ambition can be a
tremendous flaw. A strong desire to do or achieve something runs in all of us. Some people
possess that quality as a flaw. Shakespeare shows in his writing that leaders with flawed ambition
will act selfishly and unfairly, while those who use ambition as a strength will act reasonably and
with benevolence. The basis for a flawed ambitious leader is seen in an award winning jealous ice

Simpson was regarded not only as a hero in the football community, but also as a gentle and kind
person. Unfortunately, he fell victim to his own impulsiveness. On June 13th, 1994, Nicole Brown
Simpson and a friend were discovered viciously slaughtered in front of Nicole s home. To this
day, it is still unclear the motive of O.J. s actions on that fateful night, but there is no doubt he
acted out of rage and impulsiveness. Prior to the murder, O.J. went into a jealous rage if Nicole
so much as cast a glance in another guy s direction (Anolik). Because of his anger and
impulsiveness, O.J. Simpson was stripped of his heroic stance and placed in a prison cell. He
took control of another person s fate for his own personal and unknown reasons. Macbeth could
have let fate lead itself, but instead he decided to attempt to control his own future future by
murdering his superior. O.J. Simpson, like Macbeth, was once looked upon as a hero, but was

The United States Should Be Vaccinated Against Disease
I believe that all children in the United States should be vaccinated against disease. There is a
large argument in today society involving childhood vaccinations. The argument is whether
children should be forced to have mandatory vaccines, or if parents should be allowed to refuse
these vaccines. One of the main reasons that parents are skeptical of vaccines, is because there
have been more recorded cases of children experiencing serious side effects after receiving the
vaccines. Now with more and more cases of vaccinated diseases popping up all over the country,
the issue is becoming serious. According to the CDC, more than 20 percent of children in America
are not vaccinated against disease. This poses a serious issue for the... Show more content on

Parents have the power to solve the issue but still choose not to. Even if a parent wanted to
vaccinate his or her child, it could still become sick because a child that was old enough to
receive their vaccinations wasn t vaccinated. People also argue that the ingredients in vaccines are
harmful and toxic. There are toxic ingredients in vaccines, but they are harmless in the amount
that is given to the child. In fact, children receive more aluminum from breast milk then they do
vaccines. Finally, vaccines save the government copious amounts of money in societal cost.
Between 1994 and 2014 the government was estimated to save around 1.38 trillion dollars in
societal cost including savings from preventing lost productivity due to disability and early death.
Similarly, the Unites States saves about 27 dollars for every one dollar invested in the DTaP
(Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Whooping cough) vaccinations. In contrast, many parents state that it
should be their choice whether their children are vaccinated or not. One of the biggest
contributing theories about vaccines is that they cause serious side effects. These side effects
include anaphylaxis and intussusceptions, a type of bowel blockage. These side effects are
extremely rare. The only happen in around one per million children that receive vaccines, and
according to Sanjay Gupta, Chief Medical Correspondent for CNN, you are 100 times more likely
to be struck by lightning than to have a serious allergic

SUMMARY AND SETTING
The film was set in the United States of America, predominantly in St Bernardino where the
audience is introduced the original McDonalds restaurant owned by the McDonald brothers and in
Illinois the location in which Ray Kroc resided and opened his first franchise.
The film is based on the origins of the fast food giant McDonalds. It follows the story of Ray Kroc
an ambitious, persistent and motivated entrepreneur and salesman. He is desperately searching for
restaurant owners willing to buy his product his milkshake maker machine. Ray struggles to find

Ray Kroc was unethical in the film. By selling customers milkshakes made without milk using a
powder is misleading. His decision to make this change was also influenced by Joan who
proposed the idea, he wanted to please her in order for her to like him. This went against the
brothers and their ethical beliefs and values. His ruthlessness and greed led him to this unethical
behavior. However, at the end of the film it states that milk was later re added to the milkshakes.
The way in which their contract was changed and broken was also unethical. Kroc also states that
is his competitors were drowning he would shove a hose down their throats. He asks Mac
McDonald if he would do the same to which he immediately replies no. This is a perfect example
of how Kroc and the McDonald brothers ethics

Description And How Segmented Market Segmentation
Description/How Segmented
Market Segmentation
Market segmentation is a strategy that involves breaking down a business s current target market
into smaller subsets in order to establish a more defined set of market categories. It is important to
first look at the tools available to assist with segmenting the market prior to beginning your
segmentation. These tools include the following:
Characteristics of Buyers The typical consumer of precision machined parts includes distributors,
original equipment manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers.
Product Use For Falmer, their consumers typically purchase items in one of four categories
including heavy truck and truck related parts, high performance automobile parts, hydraulic hose
assemblies and railcar hardware. There are some customers that supply detailed drawings that fall
outside of these main categories that Falmer will produce the parts for as long as their equipment
has the capabilities to do so.
Buyers Needs/Preferences The consumers in the precision machined parts industry typically look
for a supplier that can provide a high quality item to the required specification at a low cost and
short lead time. They also prefer to have a supplier that keeps them up to date on if any issues
arise, provide good customer service, and are willing to replace defective items if they are found.
Purchase Behavior Customers will look for precision machined part suppliers in various ways

Biometrics And The Black Market For Recognition Purposes
Just imagine walking into a GAP clothing store as a device measures a person s eyes for
recognition and then proceeds to deliver custom content on items previously purchased. In the
futuristic sci fi thriller Minority Report a scene, exactly as described, unfolds. The story was set
in Washington D.C. in the year 2054. While the film was filled with hero s, hacker s, and drama, a
city wide optical recognition system was used to identify its citizens. Minority Report gave an
interesting perspective on how biometricsmight work in the future for recognition purposes. It also
sparks the imagination on what other forms of biometrics could be used to identify individuals. Is
a journey to the black market for a dicey eye transplant in our future?
Biometrics is a term that refers to the broad amassment of various human characteristics. In
computer science, biometrics authentication is used for access and a form of identification.
Biometrics can also be used to survey and identify individuals in groups. Statistically, biometrics
are unique and measurable to only one individual. When biometrics are used in authentication they
can be broken down into two groups of measurability, physiological characteristics and behavioral
characteristics. Physiological characteristic can be, but are not limited to, Biometrics that consist
of a person s Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), fingerprints, face, hands, eyes, ears or even odor. The
second of the two characteristics, are the behavioral

Assume that the federal government has imposed an increase in the gasoline tax of 50 cents per
gallon, effective in three months. How might a motel franchise headquarters organization
estimate the effect on demand that this new tax would have for their member motels, which are
located in all parts of the country? How could a restaurant chain organization operating turnpike
food services make such an estimate? How could a regional airline? Increasing the gasoline tax
of 50 cents would definitely reduce the amount of gasoline brought and sold, and this can have a
huge impact for a motel franchise whether if the demand or supply is perfectly inelastic. For a
restaurant, we will be looking at raising the price of the food and also implying taxes on shipping
food cost. As for the regional airline, a slight increase of the airline ticket will be applied as a sort
of taxes (example September 11 fee). The tax revenue will rise and the increase of the tax gasoline
will also increase government tax revenues.Case Problem: 2

The Event Of Spotlight Dance Academy
40 individuals were a part of Spotlight s outstanding production on February 6th, 2016. Each
year, Spotlight Dance Academy has a Kick Off event for the purpose of performing all the
routines for their competition season. This event is reserved for their elite troupe dancers to
evince their hard work and takes place in Grand Haven High School s performing arts center. An
event like this allows for the patrons to be entertained and the performers to express themselves
while participating in a sport they enjoy. For weeks in advance, my friends and I were planning
our car pools to support our friend. The day of the event, we all met and traveled in a few cars
down to Grand Haven High School, including a small detour to Starbucks. Once we arrived, we
had to wait in line for the doors to open. It was general admission so we got there early to ensure
all 15 of us could sit together. While standing in line, I began to observe the people. Surprisingly,
there was a plethora of people at this event, including parents, grandparents, and close friends.
Clearly, the people who were in attendance were here to see a specific individual. Many of them
carried flowers or signs to support their dancer. This created a celebratory and joyful atmosphere.
Soon, the doors opened and we were allowed to choose our seats. We were some of the first to be
seated so I continued to watch the various supporters file into the auditorium. While waiting for the
show to start, I was taking in my surroundings.

The first company I invested in was Intel Corporation (INTC). In 1968 the Intel Corporation was
founded by Bob Noyce and Gordon Moore. They originally went with the name MN Electronics
as More Noise but concluded it has a bad connotation on their image and Noise associated with
electronics was not what they wanted their image looking like. They eventually moved to
Integrated Electronics or Intel for short. The name was great as well as being short for intelligence
it fit perfectly. The only problem they had was the name was copyrighted under the company

This led to the production of hundreds of products including watches, cash registers and traffic

In 1976 Intel releases its first single board computer, this gave the company endless possibilities
when it came to the expansion of technology and the growth of the internet. Fast forwarding about
twenty years brings us to the release of the Pentium processor in 1993, this revolutionized the
computing standard of the public, computers were growing more and more getting faster and faster.
In 1999 Dow Jones added Intel to its list triggering a spike in the price of share to around $70. It
dropped back down but has been on a steady rise ever since. I purchased the stock when it was at a
low of about $27, the stock is currently around $35. I noticed in recent trends that they make most
of their profit around Christmas time so I knew it was a good investment that was bound to go up.
Although the price goes up around the end of the year I have to make sure I don t hold on to the
stock too long because just like anything whatever goes up must come down and after Christmas on
past graphs show the price dropping significantly.
Intel is to this day working on not only making processors (what most of us know them by) but
keeping up with the constant change in modern technology and working towards the future of
technology making the average person s life easier.
Intel did financially phenomenal this year. As of September 26th

The Meaning of Water in the Poem Blessing by Imtiaz...
To start with, the theme of the poem is that water is a necessity to life and is a precious gift. This
gift is known as a Blessing . To begin with, there is a lack of water in which the poem takes
place. Imtiaz starts the poem off strong stating right away how The skin cracks like a pod (1).
Human skin becomes dry and cracked when it is not moisturized. A pod is useless when it is
dries up and becomes fragile because of the deficiency of water. The pod links to human skin
because water keeps the skin hydrated and helps the body function. In addition, the villagers in the
poem value water. When the municipal pipes explode, silver crashes to the ground (9). To the
villagers, the water shines like silver. The villagers worship the... Show more content on

By adding in onomatopoeias, the reader is able to hear the sound of the water as it rushes and
crashes. Therefore, the poetic devices that Imtiaz uses have a tremendous purpose throughout the
poem. Last of all, Blessing by Imtiaz Dharker represents the period of the poem written in nineteen
eighty nine, which is post modern. First and foremost, temperatures were sweltering. In fact, the
hottest day was on April seventh with a high temperature of forty degrees Celsius (WeatherSpark
Beta). This connects to the poem because it deals with a hot country where dehydration is quite
normal. Since the poem takes place in the slums in Mumbai, India, There is never enough water (2)
for the villagers to consume and the great degree of heat causes more problems to their health.
Adding to that, the humidity was high. June to September were the stickiest months (WeatherSpark
Beta), which led to thirst, and the skin cracking ...like a pod (1). In fact, with a daily average low
humidity of seventy eight percent, August was the most humid month (WeatherSpark Beta). The
weather conditions of Mumbai itself were described as reasonably hot with soaring levels of
humidity (Climate of Mumbai). All of these situations link to the poem because the villagers need
water when the weather is hot and sticky to keep their bodies hydrated and functioning.
Undoubtedly, the period when the poem was written relates back to the

The Human Body Transports Oxygen And Nutrients Throughout...
The human body transports oxygen and nutrients throughout the body using the vascular system1.
When a person acquires an injury that causes him/her to bleed, the body has a natural defense to
repair it1; this is the basis of hemostasis, the formation and/or dissolution of blood clots2. Localizing
and amplifying coagulationproteases and their subsequent cofactor complexes maintain
hemostasis3. The inhibition and/or modification of these same coagulation proteases throughout
the rest of the body, away from the trauma site, also helps to maintain hemostasis3.
Coagulation, a cascade system abundant in fibrin and thrombin proteins that are vital to
hemostasis4, mainly occurs on the vascular surface because the rupture on the surface causes a
successive activation of trypsin like serine proteases which lead to the release of thrombin and clot
formation3. The coagulation system may be activated via the intrinsic pathway, where plasma
factor XII triggers coagulation to begin, or the extrinsic pathway, where thromboplastin released
from tissues stimulates plasma factor VII once each pathway activates plasma factor X, a common
pathway leads to the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin4 (this conversion is a function of which
thrombin is responsible for3). To prevent excessive bleeding (which occurs when there is a scarcity
of thrombin5) and/or unwanted blood clots (which occurs when there is a plethora of thrombin5),
coagulation must therefore be highly regulated3.
If hemostasis is

Feminist Criticism In Frankenstein
Introduction Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley s novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is
often credited as the first science fiction novel, with many film and textual adaptations. Over the
years, horror movies have taken to using the novel to comment on the fallacies in scientific
study and the tempering of nature s ways. However, it would be erroneous to exclude the
feminist narrative, as Shelley s mother wrote one of the leading modern feminist texts, A
Vindication of the Rights of Woman. This book, along with other feminist literature, was read by
Shelley, and outlined that women only appear inferior to men because they lack an equal, formal
education. Wollstonecraft advocated for a new social order based on equality and logic between
men and women. These ideas can be seen in Shelley s novel using the vehicle of a critique of
masculine focused science to provide a commentary on how society treated, and continues to treat,
women as the inferior sex. Many feminist critics have analyzed and written essays over the topic
of feminist influence both in Shelley s life and her novel. Some such areas of interest include the
scientific treatment of nature, the role of women in childcare and upbringing, and the isolation
created by the pursuit of masculinity. Shelley s life itself is also pertinent to the discussion of
influence, as critics again have analyzed the influence of her biographical experiences. A main point
made is that the characteristics of the male figures in her

The Importance Of The Bill Of Lading And Freight Bill
In transportation logistics what is importance/interplay of the BILL OF LADING AND FREIGHT
BILL? (10)
In transportation logistics Bills of lading are official or certified documents, which could be
admissible in a court. They name items to be transported during a freight shipment. The bills of
lading are issued by the shipping company, those hauling your material, or a third party logistics
company. The bills of Lading should include descriptions of every item, weight, and value being
shipped. These bills represent the agreement between the shipper and the logistics provider on
where the freight will be transported, where the freight will be collected, and when the freight will
show up at its destination. Furthermore, it can function as the title to the goods described for
shipping for situations involving official descriptions of loan collateral. The bill makes the service
level agreement clearly stated and documented as a agreed upon freight company and customer
commitment. A company must prudently attempt to met obligations, or this bill will showcase a
fault or flaw in service. Both customers and freight companies want to ensure these bills are
accurate and reliable for dispute purposes since they can avoid or alleviate issues. Freight bills do
not serve as key evidence in disputes, they can include additional charges besides what is on the
bills of lading including stipulations that clarify the information on the bill of lading document.

Second Great Awakening Dbq
The Second Great Awakening swept across the United States, lasting from the 1790s to the 1870s.
Between the 1820s and 1840s, the Christian revival was at its peak. The revivalism quickly went to
reform, however. The northern part of the Great Awakening, inspired a great movement to social
reform. Many converts of the Second Great Awakening were quite determined to win as many
people as they could to Christ. Evangelicals also founded moral reform societies. Some wanted to
reduce irreligious activities on Sundays; others wanted to opt out gambling and prostitution.
Eventually, this led to the temperance movement. The temperance movement was the moderation
or abstention in the consumption of alcoholic beverages (book pg. 301). Evangelists ... Show more

Analysis of Music Video Essay
Analysis of Music Video
Aphex Twin Come to Daddy
This Aphex Twin video is certainly one of the most dissimilar music videos that I have studied. It
intertwines elements of different genres, to create a video so different to reality; it shocked the
nation when released. The director, Chris Cunningham, wanted to make an impact with this video
which he did with great style and distinction.
Story/Narrative
The video starts with quite a gentle and sombre feel to it, where you see an old woman walking her
dog. The dog however is not the small, yappy dog you would expect a old lady to own. On the
contrary, it is big and looks rather aggressive. This could be a subtle tie in with the... Show more

As the video nears an end the face in the television finally becomes flesh and steps out. He is
portrayed as a monster, evil by nature and hideous to look at. The sort of fiend that is often seen
in horror movies. The monster then screams at the old lady, which gives the audience a sense of
revulsion as this seems evil to them. You are shown the girls vandalising the city once more before
the video ends.
The message that is possibly trying to be displayed is that television is evil. It turns people into
similar beings, and gives them ideas of violence and destruction. This is portrayed when the girls
with the same faces are terrorising the neighbourhood. The man coming out of the television shows
the evil that can be broadcasted across television networks.
Representation
The man that comes out of the television is being represented as rebellious, evil, nasty, scary and
dangerous. There are also elements of unusualness, and he comes across as quite psychotic. Just
by looking at him you can tell that he is monstrous, and is giving this message across. I think that
the television can also be seen as representation, because the monster comes out of it. I believe
that the video is trying to tell us that television spawns evil, and is thus the centre of malevolence.
The old woman is being portrayed as the innocence of people, in my mind. When you see an old
woman, you

Combating Childhood Obesity And Its Effects
Combatting Childhood Obesity
Tanema Foster
University of Missouri Kansas City
May 4, 2016
In today s society it is easy to get caught up into living a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle. With
new technologies, social media, etc, people are choosing to opt out of doing much active work
and are choosing to do things from the comfort of their own bed or couch. Many people choose to
enjoy the luxuries of online shopping, banking, mail, socializing, ordering food, games, and even
dating! Additionally, United States citizens have fully embraced the fast foodindustry for some of
the same reasons. It s much easier and cheaper than buying groceries all of the time, so many
families have adapted fast food to be the default choice for their everyday meals. Much of fast
food is very unhealthy; full of saturated fat and sugars that can induce fatal diseases and illnesses.
So although we are advancing as a nation when it comes to conventional living and technology,
we are also seeing a dramatic decline in the amount of people who are living and leading healthy
lifestyles and thus an increase in obesity. Diseases such as obesity can be prevented by simply
making the right health choices. But what about those who don t have a choice? What about the
children? Today I m going to go in to depth about childhood obesity, what it is, why it is
concerning and what is being done about it.

Alain de Botton is right! Humor is an important part of society because it freely brings light to

does one get entertainment from it, but like De Bottom states, also draw attention to topics that are
usually ignored and create a more understanding towards them. No more dry and factual

Essay about Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man and Jews...
Autobiography of an Ex Colored Man and Jews Without Money
To be a minority is a very difficult task. Fighting daily prejudices and trying to establish a unique
identity that fits into society at the same time is often one of the hardest things for a different
person to do. Deciding one s daily activities and then watching the repercussions of those activities
can be discouraging at times. In the novels, The Autobiography of an Ex Colored Man, and Jews
Without Money, two characters, the narrator and Herman, must fightthe establish their own
personal identity during a time when each are a minority.
One of the first things a person has to learn in order to find his own identity is the ability to make
his own choices. He has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While finding a unique identity, a person must be careful who he trusts. Giving valuable
information to a person who is not trustworthy can lead to destruction. Everything that is worked
for may as well be thrown away. Herman and the narrator learned this lesson the hard way.
Shortly after arriving in America, Herman started a suspender shop business with his cousin Sam
Kravitz. As soon as business was getting good, Herman went on a small excursion. When he
returned he found that [Sam] had stolen the shop (Gold 109). Everything he worked for was taken
away. His chance at his own identity vanished. The same sort of ideal happened to the narrator. He
was on his way to Atlanta University when he stayed over at a porter house. Without thinking
about it, he left his money and all his valuables in his trunk which was locked. When he returned a
dart of suspicion shot through [his] heart; the arrangement of things did not look familiar...[his]
money was gone (Johnson 44). Just as Herman s hard earned money disappeared, the narrator s did
as well. They were both left stranded to fight as minority s empty handed.
One must not settle for anything when finding out who he is. Just because something is easy
doesn t mean it is the right choice. In order for a person to make a unique place in society and not
just conform to what everyone else is doing,

Inigo Jones And The Queens House
Throughout this essay I will explore to what extent Inigo Jones s design for the Queens House
was inspired by the works of Palladio and Palladian architecture and 15 16th century European
architectural precedents, while also exploring the role the building played on the development of
Neoclassical architecture on a wider scale. The Queens House represents the stylistic point of
origin for the great imposing buildings surrounding Greenwich but also for Neo Classical
architecture in Britain more generally. The formative years of the designer, Inigo Jones (1573
1652) is largely unknown although its believed he trained as a joiner and received no formal
architectural education. Its documented that in the year 1597 he visited Italy several... Show more

The Queens house, his first residential project gave him the chance to implement these ideas in
practice. Jones career was prolific, although a lot of what he created or modified has since
disappeared. Some of the buildings that remain include Banqueting Hall at Whitehall, the Queen s
Chapel at St James s Palace and St Paul s Church. He also consulted on the reconstruction of
Somerset House and the Covent Garden Piazza.
Palladian architecture is based on the symmetry and perspective of classical architecture,
particularly the temples of the Ancient Greeks and Romans. It was characterised by the use of
pediments and symmetry, and proportions that were based on mathematics rather than ornament.
Palladian architecture is recognisable for its classical facades. Some of the defining features of
Palladianism include the use of Corinthian columns, decorative motifs such as masked faces and
scallop shells. Pediments used over doors and windows, both external and internal. Terms free

Social Conditions During Ww2
The Eastern Front of World War II was heavily taxing on both soldiers and civilian populations
between 1941 and 1942. Specifically, both Soviet civilians and soldiers found themselves with
dwindling supplies, increased work, and taxing psychological and physical conditions. In
particular, thievery and deceit were commonplace as a means for people to survive in the Soviet
Union. This was a result of mismanagement, corruption, and famine which in turn created an
environment where stealing was a necessity for survival. Furthermore, this breakdown of social
order can then indicate the effects of prolonged conflict upon a society. Conditions within the
Soviet Union at the time provide strong causation and reasoning for increased instances of Soviet
citizens and soldiers stealing supplies from one another. Civilians in particular were faced with
decreasing ration sizes as the majority of supplies were being distributed towards soldiers. A diary
entry during the fall of 1941 by Liubov Vasil evna Shaporina during the... Show more content on

Firstly, punishment for theft in the Soviet Union was fairly draconian in nature. The same
memoir notes an incident regarding similar teenagers being caught for stealing and punished to
several years in a camp. Later on as well, a man is executed for giving others his ration cards. It
is then thought that such harsh punishment would be a suitable deterrent towards any disruption
of social order, yet there are still instances of thievery primarily of food. This is predictably due
to the sheer desperation of the civilian situation in the Soviet Union at the time. Moreover, it is
entirely reasonable that due to the low amount of rationing and high requirement for work,
civilians were either forced to disregard the law and steal, or face starvation. As a result, the act of
theft became a common means for people in the Soviet Union to physically

Immanuel Kant s Formalism Theory
Kant s Formalism Theory The theories of Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher, have had an
impact on the formulation and shaping of ethics today. Immanuel Kant graced this earth from 1724
to 1804. During his eighty year life time, he formulated many interesting ideas regarding ethical
conduct and motivation. Kant is strictly a non consequentialist philosopher, which means that he
believes that a person s choices should have nothing to do with the desired outcome, but instead
mankind simply goes about doing good because it is morally correct. Kant theorizes that moral
reasoning is not based on factual knowledge and that reason by itself can reveal the basic
principles of morality. Ideas contemplated and developed and theorized by... Show more content on

If you want to reach a specific goal, then you will accomplish these tasks. On the other hand,
categorical laws apply to everyone. Regardless of goals or desired outcome, the categorical
imperative commands unconditionally. (Shaw, 67) Kant developed another idea which
exemplifies that of the categorical imperative. The principle of universal acceptability states that
as rational, moral beings, individuals are bound by logic and its demands. Because logic is
consistent, individuals all live by the same moral law. in order to determine whether a rule is a
moral law, we can thus ask if the rule commands would be acceptable to all rational beings acting
rationally. (Shaw, 67) Kant s view of universal acceptability appears to be intertwined with
echoes of the golden rule. Another famous theory developed by Kant further explaining the
categorical imperative is the idea of humanity as an end and never merely as a means. Individuals
should never treat someone a special way in an effort to get gain. In other words, Kant developed
the theory we hear in nursery school of, treat others as you would like to be treated. Logically, this
theory states that rational beings recognize their worth and the worth of others. As a rational
thinker, one would not want to be used as a means to an end. Immanuel Kant s formalism theory
poses many compelling and interesting points of view. On the surface, the categorical imperative
seems to be a great measuring device

By recording this information they can gain access to a user s personal information. There are
many types of spyware, so it is wise to have a suite that is bundled into one package. For
instance, there was a bug in the operating system of iPhones and iPads that hackers could exploit.
Advertisements that keep appearing on apps are called adware. They can be annoying because
they keep popping up and can use up your iPad s memory. These types of advertisement can be
use to spy on iPad user s internet activities. If anti spyware software found a program on your
mobile device, it would tell the user to remove the spyware from his or her device using the
software. The third part of my internet security suite is the firewall. This is the software or
hardware that protects a person s device from hackers gain access to his or her iPad without
permission. It asks the user for permission before it allows a program to gain access to your iPad.
This software makes it harder for hackers to gain control of your mobile device. For example,
Zone alarm is a popular firewall that controls what comes in and out on a network a computer.
Security protection is needed for mobile devices on the internet. A firewall also lets a person
know about suspicious programs that are trying to access into his or her mobile devices or

Hitler s Second World War II
September 1, 1939: Silence in Europe is brought to an abrupt end! German forces storm the
Polish borders, and break the Non Aggression Pact laid forth over five years before
(EyeWitness). The Fuhrer spoke of the Poles breaking down the peace talks, and of the atrocities
committed upon the Germanic people by them (Hitler, Adolf), but these highly exaggerated
claims veiled Hitler s true intentions: Though Hitler s primary goal was the conquering of
Europe, hindsight shows that the removal of groups of people he disliked or thought of as lesser
were included in his plans from the start. Two days later, on September 3rd, Great Britain and
France declared war on Germany: This was it, the Second World War had begun (EyeWitness).

My next source is the Diary from the Years of Occupation 1939 1944, by Dr. Zygmunt Klukowski
a Polish chief physician of a small hospital south of Lublin, Poland. His first entry is on October 11,
after the Germans have settled in: he starts by stating the Germans are trying to clean up the city,
but then details that they re using the Jews as laborers for it. Jews must sweep the streets, clean
all the public latrines, and fill all the street trenches. (Klukowski) He continues on to say that
they must de arm and finally adds that there is a police curfew in effect. Finally he surmises that
it seems most of the orders are aimed at the Jews. (Klukowski) Another entry states that the
Germans have been executing mentally ill patients from the nearby hospitals. It is so hard to
believe anything as terrible as this. (Klukowski) October 21, 1942, he witnesses the beginning of
the so called German displacement of the Jews (Klukowski) Here Klukowski speaks of the
indescribable atrocities he witnesses and hears. The Jews were all either rounded up and brought to

Kant And Kant s Categorical Imperative
Immanuel Kant, an 18th century moral philosopher, had contended that the fundamental principle
of morality is the Categorical Imperative, from here will be additionally labeled as (CI) or
otherwise mentioned. He supported his view by suggesting a pure moral philosophy; a
metaphysics of morals that is not solely for rational beings to explore different¬ sources of basic
moral principles that are found through their own observational experience a priori, but additionally
for the sake of moralityas it remain vulnerable to all types of corruption. In this paper, I will
explain Kant s Categorical Imperative, break down and analyze the components of the imperative
and how he comes to the conclusion of a Categorical Imperative being a necessary component of
morality. I will also explain the term ought and how it defines a role in determining the
boundaries of the Categorical Imperative and what Kant means by maxims and their role of
inspiring our actions. At the conclusion of this paper, I intend to reach the conclusion that Kant s
Categorical Imperative is a fundamental principle of morality and offers a good foundation for
actions pursuant of moral ends. The Categorical Imperative is broken down in two parts. The first
is determining what an imperative is. Kant suggests that everything in nature and the world works
in accordance with laws and that only rational beings possess the capability of acting in accordance
with those laws. Rational beings, referring are able to

The human imagination is a glorious aspect of ourselves that can fill up our minds with such
delightful thoughts and images. As interesting and perplexed someone s imagination can get, it
can still be easily influenced by such things like movies and television. I know from personal
experience just how much these things really play a part when creating certain fantasies or

such as Unfabulous and Gossip Girl , they portray such ridiculous stereotypes of the way a

Essay On Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a form of depression. It is when you feel sad, down, or blue
at specific times of the year. The most common time of year for this is late fall and winter. This is
when the days are shorter and most people spend less time outdoors. This is why SAD is also
known as the winter blues. SAD less commonly occurs in the spring or summer.
SAD can vary in severity and interfere with work, school, relationships, and normal daily activities.

Essay On The Tabernacle
Chapter 7
The Tabernacle of the Old Testament The words tabernacle and temple can be confusing; let me in
a simple way explain the difference. Firstly the tabernacle is the English translation of the Hebrew
word ЧћЦґЧ©ЧЃЦ°Ч›ЦјЦёЧџ mishkan , which simply means residence or dwelling place.
According to the Hebrew Bible this was a portable dwelling place for the presence of God, from
the time of the Exodus to the conquering of the Promise Land (Canaan). In contrast the temple is
the English translation of the Hebrew word Ч”ЦµЧ™Ч›ЦёЧњ heykal , meaning a large public
building. Unlike the tabernacle, the temple was stationary and also called the palace of Jehovah . It
was an elaborately ordained holy place where the people congregated to worship God.

Epidemiology Of Job Stress And Health
A nonfiction paper that influenced me the most is the article written by Norito Kawakami and

about the karoshi epidemic in Japan, however, this topic has never caught my attention until my
ex manager pulled me aside one day and had a conversation about of how worried and concerned
he was of my health due to my work commitments. This conversation happened during the peak
of my career growth, my manager saw potentials in me, and I was extremely interested, satisfied,
and motivated with my roles and responsibilities. I was his best team player until he realized that
I was working during the day with my coworkers and my teammate in the United States; while
managing a team of software developers in India during off hours, I was on the fast track to
implement a proprietary software for the Federal Sunshine Act regulation at the time. From the
article, one of the authors mentioned that working more than 10 hours a day for a long period of
time is considered stress (Kawakami Haratami, 1999). This is stress to both my mental and

Compare And Contrast Education Reform
An educational system is a means to develop a workforce, to improve the socioeconomic status of
the poor via social mobility, and to create a shared culture. Given these important roles, educational
systems are targets for social reformers. Joseph Lancaster and Arne Duncan were both education
reformers with strong and influential ideas about what and how students are taught. Lancaster was
a London schoolmaster and eventual leader of the Monitorial educationreform movement in the
early 1800s. Duncan was the US Secretary of Education from 2009 2015, and led an era of active
federal education reform. In comparing and contrasting these two educational reformers from the
past and present, there are more similarities than differences.... Show more content on

Recent United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan was still trying to accomplish the same
goal. In Lancaster s book Improvements in Education he argues people should invest money into
the education of the poor. Why then so eager in the pursuit of riches? and why not rather pay that
attention to the infant poor, which their wants requires? (Improvements in Education). This line
demonstrates that Lancaster believes people should put money towards the education of the poor
so that they can have a chance to better their place in society. Lancaster tried to lower the cost of
education by developing the monitorial system of education which uses less teachers and so
lowers salary costs. This is similar to Arne Duncan s emphasis on investing more money into
education and in managing costs. At the end of his term, The Washington Post reported his
agency directed $100 billion in stimulus funds to districts small and large that were otherwise
facing severe job cuts in the wake of the 2008 recession. The move preserved an estimated
350,000 teaching jobs. In his speeches, Duncan said that states and institutions of higher education
will need to meet us halfway in doing more to keep college costs down and boost completion .
This statement made by Duncan shows that both he and Lancaster have similar ideas on the cost of
education, they both believe that education was a social investment and that the cost of education
should be lowered so poorer people can

American Dream Motivation
The American Dream
The American Dream is a dream to live in a place where someone s rights and freedoms can not be
taken away from them and where they can achieve their goals without anyone stopping them no
matter what their background is. People achieved the American dream through motivation and hard
work. Although as time passed, they became too lazy to actually work for it. Somewhere along the
way, people began to interpret the American dreamas a dream to live in wealth. Because of this, it
has made them think that happiness is defined by how much money they have. They also started to
find ways to get rich quick without working for it. Many people question whether or not the
American dream is attainable or too far fetched. The American... Show more content on

Betrayal in The Chrysanthemums Essay
Betrayal in The Chrysanthemums
In John Steinbeck s short story, The Chrysanthemums, there is a strong underlining of betrayal.
We can see betrayal in three forms throughout the story. First we see Elisa being betrayed by the
salesman who plays on her emotions by giving her a sales pitch only to get some work out of
her. Then, in result to confiding in the salesman Elisa betrays her husband by opening herself up,
and confiding to a complete stranger things which she couldn t reveal to her own husband.
Finally, we see Elisa betraying herself by not allowing herself to fully express her true emotions,
and by being too afraid to step out of societies norms for woman during this time.
Elisa Allen is a thirty five year old woman who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After warming up to the salesman, through conversation, Elisa talks about her passion of
planting, and how it feels to have, planting hands (207). Then she goes on to reveal that although
she has never lived like him she has dreamed about what it would be like to live out under the
stars, travel, and how, it must be nice, to sleep in the wagon rain or shine, wishing that it would be
acceptable for a woman to do such things (208). After emotionally revealing herself to this man,
giving him some work, and giving him some potted chrysanthemums to give to the lady with the
garden he was on his way.
It wasn t until later that night when Elisa was heading to town with her husband, for dinner, that
she realized she had been betrayed by the salesman. As they were driving into town Elisa sees her
prized chrysanthemums thrown out on the side of the road. She feels betrayed knowing that she
not only got conned into giving some of her precious chrysanthemums away just so this man
could get some work out of her, but she also felt betrayed because of all the intimate details she
revealed to this man. She didn t just reveal details about her gardening, but she revealed her passion
and desires which in return got trampled on and used.
Also, in return to being betrayed by this man Elisa,as a result,

Should the US Government Bail Out and Subsidize the...
1) Should the US government bail out and/or subsidize the American maritime industry? If not,
why not? If so to what extent? There is little argument among national policymakers that the
American economy was severely horsewhipped by the Great Recession of 2008, and that the
country has only recently recovered sufficiently for economists to breathe a sigh of relief that the
corner has been turned. Likewise, there is virtually no argument among national policymakers that
a healthy maritime industry is also an essential component of the American economy. Finally, there
is significant historic precedent. The U.S. government has bailed out other industries and sectors in
the past that were viewed as being too large to fail because of the potential adverse impact on the
American economy. For instance, in his editorial, Rebuilding America and Creating Jobs A Jones
Act Initiative, Munoz (2011) writes, After bailing out the auto industry with $25 billion in loans
and guarantees, the government turned around and provided another $25 billion for the industry to
retool its plants to compete on world markets. The experiment succeeded, and American cars and
trucks are now among the best in the world (2). Moreover, it is national policy to support the
maritime industry. According to Section 1, Purpose and policy of United States, 46 App. U.S.C. 861,
2002: It is necessary for the national defense and for the proper growth of its foreign and domestic
commerce that the

Throughout the years discrimination will always affect in today s society. Humans have made it
possible to change society and end slavery. Slavery has always been a delicate topic, especially
when it is experienced. Despite the differences between their color of their skin and culture slavery
was abolished. Aliens depict a different feature of slaverybut carry the same aspect. The novel
Dawn and the film District 9 describe slavery in the sense of learning and rejection from both
species. The science fiction film and literature have not changed as many still reveal humanization

My understanding is that the prawns are surrounded by humans and should remain in the
section where only prawns are allowed. Prawns are contained in a section where they are
controlled not to escape or to cause any damages to any human. District 9 is enclosed with spike
wires, which to me symbolizes for all slave aliens are in control of humans. Historically, Prawns
are the black South African humans that were emerged to look into survival during the time of
Apartheid. The black South African was the humans that were inside district 9 with the prawns.
The black African people were treated the same as the prawns under their own oath. Another sign
of slavery is how the black Africans used their goods for trading with the prawns. The black
Africans also had a sort of power over them especially when they had cat food.

Pros And Cons Of An Authoritarian Government
Dear Director Clarke, in accordance with your assignment to investigate and analyze the the merits
for authoritarian rule in the United States, I have found some compelling evidence and observations
as to why the United States cannot head down the dark path towards democratic breakdown.
Through my undercover work in each of the AutocracyPriority 6 countries, I have gained experience
as to the benefits and obstructions that come with both forms of government. During my travels, I
have absorbed that the four most important aspects when analyzing an authoritarian government are
the citizens freedoms, the abuse of power, civil unrest, and the rights of the individual. On the

Director Clarke, the proven deterioration and failure of the authoritarian government is not the
path of the United States. If there is any single most important thing that you need to say to
President Trump in your recommendation from the CIA it is this: If we are to make america
great again, how can we we abandon the last 200 successful and revolutionary years of
democracy behind? Our President s emphasis on again shows his ideas that we need to refer
back to the roots of our country. President Abraham Lincoln once said that, The legitimate object
of government is to do for the people what needs to be done, but which they can not, by
individual effort, do at all, or do so well, by themselves. It is time to take a look back at our
country s rich history of free and fair elections, participation of citizens in the government, and
the importance of human rights. In democracy, the policies and rights of the individual are
representative of the people, not just the government elites. Over time, the citizens of an
authoritarian regime will grow sick and tired of having a small group of people with all of the
power in a country dictate their lives. The use of Democracy ensures that power will not be taken
advantage of. Director Clarke, Democracy is the only path to ensure success for the United States of

Neighborhood Case Study
Is a PNA Whittier s Next Step in Neighborhood Advocacy and Planning?
In 2012, the Whittier Alliance released a strategic plan for the next five years that pinpointed
critical steps towards increasing commercial activity and housing investments, raising
environmental standards, and improving the Alliance s organizational structure. Could the adoption
of a Private Neighborhood Association (PNA), as presented by the Mercatus Policy Series ,
support these steps? In my opinion, a full PNA will not move the Alliance forward. However, the
Whittier Alliance could benefit and advance these goals if they adopted certain principles
introduced by PNAs, specifically: growing community participation, empowering local knowledge
in the Whittier neighborhood, and working to devolve some planning authority from the city and
regional governments into the neighborhood s hands.
Increasing Community Participation
Getting people interested and invested in urban and community planning decisions often presents a

on the shaky assumption that there exist alternative, no less affordable neighborhoods nearby.
Finding a way to increase Whittier residents stake in planning decisions along with balancing the
powers of businesses, property owners, and renters is the direction in which the Alliance must
proceed, and it is clear that adopting a PNA will diverge from this good

The Importance Of Toxic Leadership
The Corps of the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) has been around since the formation of the
Continental Army in 1775. The basic responsibility of the NCO was to fill gaps in the lines and
keep soldiers quiet on mission while leading (Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of
the NCO focus on soldier welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadershipis a
serious concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps. What is
toxic leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps if it is allowed to
continue?
Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered attitudes,
motivations, and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and
mission performance . NCOs, just as civilians, range from poor leaders to excellent leaders; but
when does poor leadership become toxic leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not
every soldier is born to lead. Some soldiers are bad decision makers, poor time managers, or just
unable to inspire confidence in their fellow soldiers. There is nothing wrong with being a
follower if you are a competent individual who can perform the given tasks. A NCO who cannot
step up and lead is not a toxic leader, they are a bad leader. With education and training NCOs with
poor leaderships skills develop into competent leaders.
Toxic leadership is a result of narcissistic leaders, individuals who have an

Character Analysis Doubt
Doubt Analysis In John Shanely s Doubt there are two sides the reader can take at the end of the
play. The side of Sister Aloysius, claiming the Father Flynn was guilty, or the side of Father Flynn,
claiming that he is innocent. For the majority of the play I leaned more towards the side of Father
Flynn, however evidence that is brought up at the end of the play caused me to doubt Father Flynn
s innocence.
On page 53 Father Flynn suddenly changes his tone from one that is calm and collected to a more
erratic tone. His sudden change in tone causes doubt to form in the readers mind that Father Flynn
might not be as good of a person as he has made himself out to be. This is furthered by Father

Even though Sister Aloysius ended up have a valid argument against Father Flynn in the end the
way she argued until she realized she need a power play has not convinced me that she truly
cares about the students and she cares more about keeping the school in the vision she has in her
mind. Sister Aloysius choose to see evil in Father Flynn from the beginning of the play. If she
had brought up that she saw William London shy away from Father Flynn s touch from the start
then brought in accusations about Donald Muller then I think I would have choose her side of
the story. Father Flynn also had some good alibis to suggest he was merely a father figure to
Donald. Like that fact that Donald opened up to Flynn about his dad s abuse. Also we never find
out why Flynn had to move so many times. Sister Aloysius chooses to believe that he molest
children. While I choose to believe that maybe Father Flynn is a closeted homosexual and in the
cases were he needed to move someone found out about his secret. Finally Father Flynn appears
to give into Sister Aloysius s demands and move. However I believe he moved to save Donald
Muller s life. Flynn knew if Donald s secret got out then he would be killed, so Flynn decided to

How Did Chaucer Influence His Age
There is an age called the age of Chaucer. At that time, there was a social and intellectual
movement, and then there was the terrible epidemic called the Black Death which brought poverty,
unrest and revolt among the peasants, and the growing spirit of inquiry, which would cause people
to be critical of the ways of the church. In those era, there was a very famous poet. His name is
Geoffrey Chaucer with his masterpiece entitled The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer was a great writer
in a well developed period and had close connections with the rulers of his era, so it was not
surprising that the age was given the same name as his name. Based on that, in this essay will
discuss about his life, his work, until his death.

More research on arsenic and its influences on our health and food supply is essential to learn
about these effects so better policy decisions can be made.
Rice is one of the major crops grown in flooded fields, it absorbs arsenic from soil or water much
more effectively than most plants. Improved irrigation and agricultural practices can help reduce
arsenic contamination of rice and other crops, for example growing crops in raised beds instead in
water flooded conditions.
Since, arsenic in our environment is not only due to arsenic containing minerals in the earth, it is
important to say that most of the arsenic problems we have today are result of human activity,
such as the use of arsenic based products for industrial and agricultural purposes like use of arsenic
containing pesticides on crops, insecticides, drugs fed to chicken and some other animals (for
example Nitarsone).
The remedy should be: ALL ARSENIC CONTRIBUTORS SHOULD BE BANNED!

The United States Of The American Dream
I Believe in Service to Your Country I often hear that destiny has been predetermined for each
individual. On the other hand, I prefer to believe that I control my own. My brother, sister, and I
are first generation in this great country. The opportunity to reach the American dream was
presented to my parents and they graciously took advantage. Every day I am grateful to have
been born in this country, and always knew that one day I would serve the United States of
America. The clock ticked away, and the time to face the inevitable had arrived. I was twenty
one years old when I stepped into the Navy recruiter s office. I was set on a speedy course to find
a field for me in the military, and soon I was on a plane towards Great Lakes, Illinois. One month
exactly had passed, from when I signed my contract to when I stepped into the Recruit Training
Command in Great Lakes. When I trained in boot camp, I had been introduced to new values
and beliefs. Hard work and dedication were a requirement everyday with no exceptions. I had
met fellow sailors from all over the U.S and even other countries. I had instantly found my call,
and could not get enough of the new elements I was introduced to. For the first time in my life, I
was assigned to be a leader and I naturally took to the assignment. The formula was simple,
exercise hard, keep a pristine uniform, and be loud and proud. I was assigned the rate of Aviation
Ordnanceman, and after three months I made my way to Pensacola,

during the middle of Ho s Princeton education, she took a leave of absence to work in lower

Downsizing creates multiple consequences in the workplace such as: job insecurity, less loyal
workers, high levels of unemployment, and high turnover. Outside of the Wall Street market,
downsizing has not shown to increase productivity, and instead it accounts to many employers
quitting often because they can foresee these downsizes (Class Notes, 9/22/14). Yet, in Wall Street,
these downsizes have desensitized the workers to layoffs. In addition, contracts have not become
legally binding and there are now severance packages and outplacement services for these
constantly uprooted workers. Overall, Ho (2009) argues that it is the cultural understandings and
organizational incentives of investment banks that help contribute to the creation of both unstable,
unsustainable markets and jobs (p.

One mostly told a mythical story but talked about the landform as the other talked about how people in Tenochtitlan and nonfictional facts about the land and city. So both are not the same but they share some common interest. The Tenochtitlan story mainly told about a city in Mexico and how they survived and lived. It describes how they developed on the island and how the city first originated. Life over there was also involved with the Aztecs and why they made the choice to move to a swampy land. Nowadays the city has been partly destroyed due to the Spanish and Hernan Cortes which the ruins is today located near the center of Mexico City. Tenochtitlan was primarily based on an urban development structure as the other was based on a tragic romance based on a bad lie told to the married warrior and princess. I m probably sure that they shared the same culture since there both in the same country and possibly practice the same ceremonies and practices, so yeah they could have some similarities and some could be contrasted. Both can t be compared too easily mostly because of the type of story it is and because of what they tell about, but they did have some similarities on the other hand. They both took place in Mexico and were located near Mexico City. So mainly they were stories held in Mexico and both did traditions in the same culture. Macbeth Essay On Ambition Shyann Anaya English 4 Period 5 January 29, 2018 Mr. Trussel Ambitious Leaders THESIS: In Macbeth, the author, William Shakespeare, uses Macbeth s vaulting ambition to show how misused ambition can be a flaw. In Macbeth, the author, William Shakespeare, uses Macbeth s vaulting ambition to show how misused ambition can be a tremendous flaw. A strong desire to do or achieve something runs in all of us. Some people possess that quality as a flaw. Shakespeare shows in his writing that leaders with flawed ambition will act selfishly and unfairly, while those who use ambition as a strength will act reasonably and with benevolence. The basis for a flawed ambitious leader is seen in an award winning jealous ice skater, the 37th president ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simpson was regarded not only as a hero in the football community, but also as a gentle and kind person. Unfortunately, he fell victim to his own impulsiveness. On June 13th, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and a friend were discovered viciously slaughtered in front of Nicole s home. To this day, it is still unclear the motive of O.J. s actions on that fateful night, but there is no doubt he acted out of rage and impulsiveness. Prior to the murder, O.J. went into a jealous rage if Nicole so much as cast a glance in another guy s direction (Anolik). Because of his anger and impulsiveness, O.J. Simpson was stripped of his heroic stance and placed in a prison cell. He took control of another person s fate for his own personal and unknown reasons. • 4. The United States Should Be Vaccinated Against Disease I believe that all children in the United States should be vaccinated against disease. There is a large argument in today society involving childhood vaccinations. The argument is whether children should be forced to have mandatory vaccines, or if parents should be allowed to refuse these vaccines. One of the main reasons that parents are skeptical of vaccines, is because there have been more recorded cases of children experiencing serious side effects after receiving the vaccines. Now with more and more cases of vaccinated diseases popping up all over the country, the issue is becoming serious. According to the CDC, more than 20 percent of children in America are not vaccinated against disease. This poses a serious issue for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parents have the power to solve the issue but still choose not to. Even if a parent wanted to vaccinate his or her child, it could still become sick because a child that was old enough to receive their vaccinations wasn t vaccinated. People also argue that the ingredients in vaccines are harmful and toxic. There are toxic ingredients in vaccines, but they are harmless in the amount that is given to the child. In fact, children receive more aluminum from breast milk then they do vaccines. Finally, vaccines save the government copious amounts of money in societal cost. Between 1994 and 2014 the government was estimated to save around 1.38 trillion dollars in societal cost including savings from preventing lost productivity due to disability and early death. Similarly, the Unites States saves about 27 dollars for every one dollar invested in the DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Whooping cough) vaccinations. In contrast, many parents state that it should be their choice whether their children are vaccinated or not. One of the biggest contributing theories about vaccines is that they cause serious side effects. These side effects include anaphylaxis and intussusceptions, a type of bowel blockage. These side effects are extremely rare. The only happen in around one per million children that receive vaccines, and according to Sanjay Gupta, Chief Medical Correspondent for CNN, you are 100 times more likely to be struck by lightning than to have a serious allergic ... Description And How Segmented Market Segmentation Description/How Segmented Market Segmentation Market segmentation is a strategy that involves breaking down a business s current target market into smaller subsets in order to establish a more defined set of market categories. It is important to first look at the tools available to assist with segmenting the market prior to beginning your segmentation. These tools include the following: Characteristics of Buyers The typical consumer of precision machined parts includes distributors, original equipment manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers. Biometrics And The Black Market For Recognition Purposes Just imagine walking into a GAP clothing store as a device measures a person s eyes for recognition and then proceeds to deliver custom content on items previously purchased. In the futuristic sci fi thriller Minority Report a scene, exactly as described, unfolds. The story was set in Washington D.C. in the year 2054. While the film was filled with hero s, hacker s, and drama, a city wide optical recognition system was used to identify its citizens. Minority Report gave an interesting perspective on how biometricsmight work in the future for recognition purposes. It also sparks the imagination on what other forms of biometrics could be used to identify individuals. Is a journey to the black market for a dicey eye transplant in our future? Biometrics is a term that refers to the broad amassment of various human characteristics. In computer science, biometrics authentication is used for access and a form of identification. Biometrics can also be used to survey and identify individuals in groups. Statistically, biometrics are unique and measurable to only one individual. They should also consult environmental experts to give you the pros and cons of establishing new buildings in the city. Finally they need to hold a community meeting to discuss the topics of new attractions and zoning, and also to get the perspectives of the community. Chapter 13 Case Problem: 1 Assume that the federal government has imposed an increase in the gasoline tax of 50 cents per gallon, effective in three months. How might a motel franchise headquarters organization estimate the effect on demand that this new tax would have for their member motels, which are located in all parts of the country? How could a restaurant chain organization operating turnpike food services make such an estimate? How could a regional airline? Increasing the gasoline tax of 50 cents would definitely reduce the amount of gasoline brought and sold, and this can have a huge impact for a motel franchise whether if the demand or supply is perfectly inelastic. For a restaurant, we will be looking at raising the price of the food and also implying taxes on shipping food cost. As for the regional airline, a slight increase of the airline ticket will be applied as a sort of taxes (example September 11 fee). The tax revenue will rise and the increase of the tax gasoline will also increase government tax revenues.Case Problem: 2 Byron C. is director of development for a major hotel systems firm. • 10. The Event Of Spotlight Dance Academy 40 individuals were a part of Spotlight s outstanding production on February 6th, 2016. Each year, Spotlight Dance Academy has a Kick Off event for the purpose of performing all the routines for their competition season. This event is reserved for their elite troupe dancers to evince their hard work and takes place in Grand Haven High School s performing arts center. An event like this allows for the patrons to be entertained and the performers to express themselves while participating in a sport they enjoy. For weeks in advance, my friends and I were planning our car pools to support our friend. The day of the event, we all met and traveled in a few cars down to Grand Haven High School, including a small detour to Starbucks. Once we arrived, we had to wait in line for the doors to open. It was general admission so we got there early to ensure all 15 of us could sit together. While standing in line, I began to observe the people. Surprisingly, there was a plethora of people at this event, including parents, grandparents, and close friends. Clearly, the people who were in attendance were here to see a specific individual. Many of them carried flowers or signs to support their dancer. This created a celebratory and joyful atmosphere. Soon, the doors opened and we were allowed to choose our seats. We were some of the first to be seated so I continued to watch the various supporters file into the auditorium. While waiting for the show to start, I was taking in my surroundings. ... Fast forwarding about twenty years brings us to the release of the Pentium processor in 1993, this revolutionized the computing standard of the public, computers were growing more and more getting faster and faster. In 1999 Dow Jones added Intel to its list triggering a spike in the price of share to around $70. It dropped back down but has been on a steady rise ever since. I purchased the stock when it was at a low of about $27, the stock is currently around $35. I noticed in recent trends that they make most of their profit around Christmas time so I knew it was a good investment that was bound to go up. Although the price goes up around the end of the year I have to make sure I don t hold on to the stock too long because just like anything whatever goes up must come down and after Christmas on past graphs show the price dropping significantly. Human skin becomes dry and cracked when it is not moisturized. A pod is useless when it is dries up and becomes fragile because of the deficiency of water. The pod links to human skin because water keeps the skin hydrated and helps the body function. In addition, the villagers in the poem value water. When the municipal pipes explode, silver crashes to the ground (9). To the villagers, the water shines like silver. The villagers worship the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Last of all, Blessing by Imtiaz Dharker represents the period of the poem written in nineteen eighty nine, which is post modern. First and foremost, temperatures were sweltering. In fact, the hottest day was on April seventh with a high temperature of forty degrees Celsius (WeatherSpark Beta). This connects to the poem because it deals with a hot country where dehydration is quite normal. Since the poem takes place in the slums in Mumbai, India, There is never enough water (2) for the villagers to consume and the great degree of heat causes more problems to their health. Adding to that, the humidity was high. June to September were the stickiest months (WeatherSpark Beta), which led to thirst, and the skin cracking ...like a pod (1). In fact, with a daily average low humidity of seventy eight percent, August was the most humid month (WeatherSpark Beta). The weather conditions of Mumbai itself were described as reasonably hot with soaring levels of humidity (Climate of Mumbai). All of these situations link to the poem because the villagers need water when the weather is hot and sticky to keep their bodies hydrated and functioning. • 13. The Human Body Transports Oxygen And Nutrients Throughout... The human body transports oxygen and nutrients throughout the body using the vascular system1. When a person acquires an injury that causes him/her to bleed, the body has a natural defense to repair it1; this is the basis of hemostasis, the formation and/or dissolution of blood clots2. Localizing and amplifying coagulationproteases and their subsequent cofactor complexes maintain hemostasis3. The inhibition and/or modification of these same coagulation proteases throughout the rest of the body, away from the trauma site, also helps to maintain hemostasis3. Coagulation, a cascade system abundant in fibrin and thrombin proteins that are vital to hemostasis4, mainly occurs on the vascular surface because the rupture on the surface causes a successive activation of trypsin like serine proteases which lead to the release of thrombin and clot formation3. The coagulation system may be activated via the intrinsic pathway, where plasma factor XII triggers coagulation to begin, or the extrinsic pathway, where thromboplastin released from tissues stimulates plasma factor VII once each pathway activates plasma factor X, a common pathway leads to the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin4 (this conversion is a function of which thrombin is responsible for3). To prevent excessive bleeding (which occurs when there is a scarcity of thrombin5) and/or unwanted blood clots (which occurs when there is a plethora of thrombin5), coagulation must therefore be highly regulated3. • 14. Feminist Criticism In Frankenstein Introduction Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley s novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is often credited as the first science fiction novel, with many film and textual adaptations. Over the years, horror movies have taken to using the novel to comment on the fallacies in scientific study and the tempering of nature s ways. However, it would be erroneous to exclude the feminist narrative, as Shelley s mother wrote one of the leading modern feminist texts, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman. This book, along with other feminist literature, was read by Shelley, and outlined that women only appear inferior to men because they lack an equal, formal education. Wollstonecraft advocated for a new social order based on equality and logic between men and women. These ideas can be seen in Shelley s novel using the vehicle of a critique of masculine focused science to provide a commentary on how society treated, and continues to treat, women as the inferior sex. Many feminist critics have analyzed and written essays over the topic of feminist influence both in Shelley s life and her novel. Some such areas of interest include the scientific treatment of nature, the role of women in childcare and upbringing, and the isolation created by the pursuit of masculinity. Shelley s life itself is also pertinent to the discussion of influence, as critics again have analyzed the influence of her biographical experiences. A main point made is that the characteristics of the male figures in her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(10) In transportation logistics Bills of lading are official or certified documents, which could be admissible in a court. They name items to be transported during a freight shipment. The bills of lading are issued by the shipping company, those hauling your material, or a third party logistics company. The bills of Lading should include descriptions of every item, weight, and value being shipped. These bills represent the agreement between the shipper and the logistics provider on where the freight will be transported, where the freight will be collected, and when the freight will show up at its destination. Furthermore, it can function as the title to the goods described for shipping for situations involving official descriptions of loan collateral. The bill makes the service level agreement clearly stated and documented as a agreed upon freight company and customer commitment. A company must prudently attempt to met obligations, or this bill will showcase a fault or flaw in service. Both customers and freight companies want to ensure these bills are accurate and reliable for dispute purposes since they can avoid or alleviate issues. Freight bills do not serve as key evidence in disputes, they can include additional charges besides what is on the bills of lading including stipulations that clarify the information on the bill of lading document. Story/Narrative The video starts with quite a gentle and sombre feel to it, where you see an old woman walking her dog. The dog however is not the small, yappy dog you would expect a old lady to own. You are shown the girls vandalising the city once more before the video ends. The message that is possibly trying to be displayed is that television is evil. It turns people into similar beings, and gives them ideas of violence and destruction. This is portrayed when the girls with the same faces are terrorising the neighbourhood. The man coming out of the television shows the evil that can be broadcasted across television networks. Representation The man that comes out of the television is being represented as rebellious, evil, nasty, scary and dangerous. There are also elements of unusualness, and he comes across as quite psychotic. Just by looking at him you can tell that he is monstrous, and is giving this message across. I think that the television can also be seen as representation, because the monster comes out of it. Combating Childhood Obesity And Its Effects Combatting Childhood Obesity Tanema Foster University of Missouri Kansas City May 4, 2016 In today s society it is easy to get caught up into living a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle. With new technologies, social media, etc, people are choosing to opt out of doing much active work and are choosing to do things from the comfort of their own bed or couch. Many people choose to enjoy the luxuries of online shopping, banking, mail, socializing, ordering food, games, and even dating! Additionally, United States citizens have fully embraced the fast foodindustry for some of the same reasons. It s much easier and cheaper than buying groceries all of the time, so many families have adapted fast food to be the default choice for their everyday meals. Much of fast food is very unhealthy; full of saturated fat and sugars that can induce fatal diseases and illnesses. So although we are advancing as a nation when it comes to conventional living and technology, we are also seeing a dramatic decline in the amount of people who are living and leading healthy lifestyles and thus an increase in obesity. Diseases such as obesity can be prevented by simply making the right health choices. But what about those who don t have a choice? What about the children? Specifically, both Soviet civilians and soldiers found themselves with dwindling supplies, increased work, and taxing psychological and physical conditions. In particular, thievery and deceit were commonplace as a means for people to survive in the Soviet Union. This was a result of mismanagement, corruption, and famine which in turn created an environment where stealing was a necessity for survival. Furthermore, this breakdown of social order can then indicate the effects of prolonged conflict upon a society. Conditions within the Soviet Union at the time provide strong causation and reasoning for increased instances of Soviet citizens and soldiers stealing supplies from one another. This is predictably due to the sheer desperation of the civilian situation in the Soviet Union at the time. Regardless of goals or desired outcome, the categorical imperative commands unconditionally. (Shaw, 67) Kant developed another idea which exemplifies that of the categorical imperative. The principle of universal acceptability states that as rational, moral beings, individuals are bound by logic and its demands. Because logic is consistent, individuals all live by the same moral law. in order to determine whether a rule is a moral law, we can thus ask if the rule commands would be acceptable to all rational beings acting rationally. Jews must sweep the streets, clean all the public latrines, and fill all the street trenches. In this paper, I will explain Kant s Categorical Imperative, break down and analyze the components of the imperative and how he comes to the conclusion of a Categorical Imperative being a necessary component of morality. I will also explain the term ought and how it defines a role in determining the boundaries of the Categorical Imperative and what Kant means by maxims and their role of inspiring our actions. At the conclusion of this paper, I intend to reach the conclusion that Kant s Categorical Imperative is a fundamental principle of morality and offers a good foundation for actions pursuant of moral ends. The Categorical Imperative is broken down in two parts. The first is determining what an imperative is. Kant suggests that everything in nature and the world works in accordance with laws and that only rational beings possess the capability of acting in accordance with those laws. As a child, seeing your basic stereotypical teenage movies for the first time, such as Mean Girls , really had a huge impact on the way I shaped my imagination. I winded up creating my whole life from when I became a teenager to my entire high schoolcareer up into many different fantasies. In movies like, Mean Girls or Clueless , or shows such as Unfabulous and Gossip Girl , they portray such ridiculous stereotypes of the way a teenager s life is, or how it s supposed to be. You see stereotypes like jocks and cheerleaders are always the popular kids whereas nerds are always uncool, teenagers are always having sex, going to parties, and doing drugs, and people seem to always find their soul mates in high school and are together forever. Compare And Contrast Education Reform An educational system is a means to develop a workforce, to improve the socioeconomic status of the poor via social mobility, and to create a shared culture. Given these important roles, educational systems are targets for social reformers. Lancaster was a London schoolmaster and eventual leader of the Monitorial educationreform movement in the early 1800s. In Lancaster s book Improvements in Education he argues people should invest money into the education of the poor. This line demonstrates that Lancaster believes people should put money towards the education of the poor so that they can have a chance to better their place in society. Lancaster tried to lower the cost of education by developing the monitorial system of education which uses less teachers and so lowers salary costs. This is similar to Arne Duncan s emphasis on investing more money into education and in managing costs. At the end of his term, The Washington Post reported his agency directed $100 billion in stimulus funds to districts small and large that were otherwise facing severe job cuts in the wake of the 2008 recession. The move preserved an estimated 350,000 teaching jobs. In his speeches, Duncan said that states and institutions of higher education will need to meet us halfway in doing more to keep college costs down and boost completion . There is little argument among national policymakers that the American economy was severely horsewhipped by the Great Recession of 2008, and that the country has only recently recovered sufficiently for economists to breathe a sigh of relief that the corner has been turned. Likewise, there is virtually no argument among national policymakers that a healthy maritime industry is also an essential component of the American economy. Finally, there is significant historic precedent. The U.S. government has bailed out other industries and sectors in the past that were viewed as being too large to fail because of the potential adverse impact on the American economy. Since, arsenic in our environment is not only due to arsenic containing minerals in the earth, it is important to say that most of the arsenic problems we have today are result of human activity, such as the use of arsenic based products for industrial and agricultural purposes like use of arsenic containing pesticides on crops, insecticides, drugs fed to chicken and some other animals (for example Nitarsone). The remedy should be: ALL ARSENIC CONTRIBUTORS SHOULD BE BANNED! 9. How your awareness can cut your arsenic exposure? Test your water. • 54. The United States Of The American Dream I Believe in Service to Your Country I often hear that destiny has been predetermined for each individual. On the other hand, I prefer to believe that I control my own. My brother, sister, and I are first generation in this great country. The opportunity to reach the American dream was presented to my parents and they graciously took advantage. Every day I am grateful to have been born in this country, and always knew that one day I would serve the United States of America. The clock ticked away, and the time to face the inevitable had arrived. I was twenty one years old when I stepped into the Navy recruiter s office. I was set on a speedy course to find a field for me in the military, and soon I was on a plane towards Great Lakes, Illinois. One month exactly had passed, from when I signed my contract to when I stepped into the Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes. When I trained in boot camp, I had been introduced to new values and beliefs. Hard work and dedication were a requirement everyday with no exceptions. I had met fellow sailors from all over the U.S and even other countries. I had instantly found my call, and could not get enough of the new elements I was introduced to. For the first time in my life, I was assigned to be a leader and I naturally took to the assignment. The formula was simple, exercise hard, keep a pristine uniform, and be loud and proud. I was assigned the rate of Aviation Ordnanceman, and after three months I made my way to Pensacola, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Karen Ho is an American anthropologist, who earned her undergrad and graduate degrees from Stanford University and got her Ph.D. in anthropology from Princeton University. In 1997, during the middle of Ho s Princeton education, she took a leave of absence to work in lower Manhattan and observe the natural habitat for investment banking. Bankers Trust New York Corporation (also known as BT) hired Ho to be part of the Management Consulting Group. After six months, Ho was fired due to downsizing. Based on Ho s stint at BT in 1997, fieldwork from 1998 to 1999 and over 100 interviews with investment bankers, Ho depicts an insider s account of how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Downsizing creates multiple consequences in the workplace such as: job insecurity, less loyal workers, high levels of unemployment, and high turnover. Outside of the Wall Street market, downsizing has not shown to increase productivity, and instead it accounts to many employers quitting often because they can foresee these downsizes (Class Notes, 9/22/14). Yet, in Wall Street, these downsizes have desensitized the workers to layoffs. In addition, contracts have not become legally binding and there are now severance packages and outplacement services for these constantly uprooted workers. Overall, Ho (2009) argues that it is the cultural understandings and organizational incentives of investment banks that help contribute to the creation of both unstable, unsustainable markets and jobs (p. ...
