11. What about more than 20 units a semester? Things that will prevent you from enrolling in more than 20 units Not possible if you are a BFA1 Not possible if you have an NC or NX from the two previous semesters Steps to petition to take more than 20 units Step 1: Obtain “Statement of Purpose for More than 20 Units” petition Step 2: Get your Mentor’s signature Step 3: Get your Dean’s signature Step 4: Get a signature from the Office of the Provost Step 5: Take the completed and signed form to the Registrar’s Office, or computer line during class sign-up 9

12. To get a BFA at CalArts you need Critical Studies Units(General Education Units) To be awarded a BFA You must accumulate 46 units in Critical Studies. As a transfer student you need to be aware of both The CalArts Critical Studies BreadthRequirement The CalArts Critical Studies ResidencyRequirement. Depending on the level you were accepted at, you may have specific course requirements.
