8. Compulsory tests- Common Subjects

required for this part)

9. Access examination for University
Qualification of entrance examination =
60% SR + 40% ACT
SR = student´s record of upper secondary education .
ACT = average qualification of the compulsory tests.
Final access qualification: five points minimum are required .
There is no expire date for this mark.
10. Specific Tests - Optional subjects
Maximum three subjects per branch modality.
Students can choose three subjects of the specific branch, with
the exception of the one previously chosen in the compulsory
part.
It is remarkable that only the two best marks achieved (in the
case of taken three ) are taken into account.
The specific subjects can add an extra 10% or 20% to the final
mark, depending on the university grade chosen by the student.
This extra punctuation is only added in the case of having a
minimun of five points, in the final mark.
11. Examples given for the specific tests.
Case 1: Students who hope to study medicine:
Biology = 8,00 x 0,2 = 1,6
Chemistry = 9,00 x 0,2 = 1,8
Mathematics = 9,00 x 0,1 = 0,9 (This subject is not taken into account))
3,4 extra points are added to the qualication of
entrance examination.
Case 2: Students who hope to study engineering
or architecture.
Biology = 8,00 (this subject is not taken into account, as it is not part of the
official curricula of these studies)
Chemistry = 9,00 x 0,2 = 1,8
Mathemátics = 9’00 x 0,2 = 1,8
3,6 extra points are added to the qualification of the
final access marks.
12. Examples of final Qualification
Qualification of entrance examination = 60% SR + 40% ACT (max. 10
points)
SR = student´s record of upper secondary education:
60% (8,53 x 0,6 = 5,118)
ACT = average qualification of the compulsory tests:
40% (7,328 x 0,4 = 2,931)
Access mark: 5,118 + 2,931 = 8,049.
Qualification specific tests : (max. 14 points ):
Access mark: 5,118 + 2,931 = 8,049

Final mark: 11,44 for medicine studies.
Final mark: 11,64 for architecture or engineering.
14. Degree Studies .
The degree studies ara distributed in five
branches of knowledge:
Arts and Humanities.
Sciences.
Health Sciences.
Social Sciencies and Law.
Engineering and Architecture.

Levels of the University Degrees
University studies which are officially valid in the whole country, are
structured in three different levels:
Degree:
General formation adquired in four years, focus on the professional practise
or activity.
Master.
Post- graduation formation which is focus on specialized studies, to
developed a more specific career or to initiate a professional research activity.
Doctorate or PHD Studies:
Upper formation in research techniques.
The conclusing of these studies, named Thesis, must be written and
defended in the presence of a jury of proffessors specialized in that
specifc field.
16. How to be accepted in the
different degrees
Different types of acceptance in the university:
Degrees with restricted acceptance.
Degrees with open acceptance.
17. Degrees with restricted Acceptance
It is necessary a previous inscription for the
university system in force in each region.
The students can make five degrees
options, according to their preferences.
A specialised university comission, is in
charge of selecting students for different
degrees according to their final
qualifications.
Once a student is admitted to start a
degree, she or he must formalize the
inscription.
18. Degrees with open acceptance
A preinscription is not required.
Once the student has passed the A
level test he or she can formalize
his/her inscription in the faculty
previously chosen.
19. Access to university from upper
vocational degrees.
Students can be admitted with only the
average qualification of the upper vocational
studies.
If They choose to improve their qualification
they have to take the Specific Tests which are the
