- As a new volunteer, I felt a disconnect. It seemed that the Children's area was off by itself and isolated (literally & figuratively). Most areas could use more help, especially in the area of Volunteer Coordination. It is the job of the committee to make sure that everyone has enough help and support. There needs to be a more concerted effort in the area of Social Media, especially on the CB&J page. There should be more “Likes” and comments from the group when posts are added to the wall. Emails should be answered with 24 – 48 hours. Sometimes a simple “Thanks” or “Got it” is all that is needed.
- What is the purpose of the festival? We need to make sure that all areas are in line with the Mission. W.I.I.F.M. - What's in it for me? - Everyone has a reason for getting involved. If we want volunteers to keep coming back, we need to pay attention to their motivations for helping out. Recognition of contributions is important. There needs to be value. The “elephant in the room”. Does this festival belong under the umbrella of the CVB? Should it stand alone? Should the city run it? Who ultimately benefits the most?
- Do we need the Photo Booth or a Face Painter next year? Face Painter was an estimated $4.25 (or more) per child served. Not sure about photo booth. Enough supplies left over for a continuation of “Make & Take” instruments. Kya's Krusade - Keep. Great value. They provide great crafts for free to promote their cause and have an awesome attitude! Musical Instruments – While these were appreciated & put to use, Music Go Round got a fantastic value in promotions for these. Next year, they should either set up, staff and run the booth themselves or pay sponsorship money to the festival to have this done.
