The Islip Fine and Performing Arts Board of Education report provides an overview of enrollment numbers, student recognition, co-curricular activities, new department initiatives, budgets, cost savings, equipment needs, staffing plans, facility improvements, and future curricular plans for music and art programs across the district. Nearly 1000 students are enrolled in performing music programs and over 800 students are enrolled in high school art and photography classes. The department is focusing on inventory management, increasing ticket sales for performances, staff development, and upgrading facilities and equipment over the coming years.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the evening of live music, and Old Drum Coffeehouse and Bakery will be selling ice cream.

1) Music education in the US has evolved from early colonial practices of lining out tunes to the development of singing schools and inclusion in public school curriculums led by Lowell Mason.
