Problem solving is both a skill and a process that involves identifying an issue, exploring possible solutions, and implementing and evaluating the best option. The document outlines a seven-step problem solving cycle: 1) identify the problem, 2) explore the problem from different angles, 3) set goals, 4) look at alternatives, 5) select a possible solution, 6) implement the solution, and 7) evaluate the outcome. Problem solving can be used to address any issue in one's personal, academic or professional life, and working with others provides a variety of viewpoints and potential solutions.

This document outlines the criteria and expectations for students completing independent study through an Individualized Education Program (IEP). It lists 5 criteria: 1) self-awareness as a language learner, 2) quality of work, 3) independence, 4) resourcefulness, and 5) reflection. For each criterion, it provides brief explanations of what is expected, such as students assessing their own strengths and weaknesses, completing high-quality work on time, being able to work independently to solve problems, finding their own learning resources, and providing meaningful reflection on progress. The overall message is that IEPs are meant to develop student independence and responsibility for their own learning.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against developing mental illness and improve symptoms for those who already suffer from conditions like anxiety and depression.

This is a presentation of Cyriel Kortleven (www.cyrielkortleven.com) about thinking outside the box and exploring different skills to give your creativity a boost.
1) The document discusses key lessons learned from applying design thinking. It emphasizes generating many ideas, including "crazy" ones, modifying and rethinking ideas through multiple iterations, and starting with large conceptual ideas before focusing on details.
2) It outlines a process map for design thinking, including empathizing with stakeholders, ideating through writing many ideas and prototyping, testing prototypes, gathering feedback, and ideating again based on learnings.
3) The reflection notes that design thinking can be applied to problems at both personal and large scales, and that it stimulates creativity and flexibility through rethinking solutions. It provides examples of how design thinking could be used in different domains.
1. The document discusses three key takeaways from design thinking: using a non-linear approach to find solutions, thinking without restrictions to generate ideas outside the box, and collecting stakeholder feedback to improve understanding and solutions.
2. It also provides examples of how design thinking could help address problems like managing time, engaging students, addressing social issues, and helping students with difficult subjects. Design thinking allows exploration of problems from different perspectives to arrive at innovative solutions.
This document outlines a lesson plan aimed at helping learners reflect on how they have developed as sustainable learners over the course. The plan uses concepts from permaculture design such as zones and sectors to map out how a learning support group naturally displays permaculture principles and ethics. The lesson guides students through activities to identify their learning styles, challenges them to develop new ones, and reflects on how course concepts like permaculture design can be applied to creating sustainable lifelong learning practices.
The document provides guidance on framing problems effectively before attempting to solve them. It emphasizes spending significant time understanding the problem by reframing it in different ways. This includes considering various perspectives on the problem, the types of stakeholders involved, and what success would look like without the problem. Framing the problem as an opportunity can help spark new solutions. Only after deeply analyzing the problem should responses be developed.
Journaling in mathematics math summer institute 2011susan70
Math journals help students reflect on math problems and concepts. They examine their reasoning, express their thinking, and keep track of their problem solving process. Writing in journals benefits students by helping them become aware of what they know and don't know, connect prior knowledge to new concepts, and reflect on their understanding. It also helps teachers understand students' thinking by showing if students can explain concepts using appropriate math language. The document provides examples of journal prompts and strategies to support student reflection, including think-pair-share, think-write-pair-share, and using pictures to describe math problems and spark discussion.
A must read for all creatives who suffer that usual struggle with the initial part of the creative process: Brainstorming. Also for people interested to know how ideas are generated and how human mind responds to creativity challanges.
The document discusses the key learnings from exploring design thinking which include that it is based on human and organizational needs, it is a cyclic process, and if mastered can help solve a variety of problems. It then reflects on applying a design thinking approach to complex scheduling and vehicle routing problems by learning new innovative problem solving techniques through multidisciplinary collaboration.

Ralph Caplan, By Design
Design Thinking is …
… human-centered, collaborative, possibility-driven, options-focused, and iterative.
… the confidence that new, better things are possible and that you can make them happen.
Ralph Caplan, born January 4, 1925 is a design consultant, writer and public speaker. After serving in the Marines in WWII, he graduated from Earlham College and then went on to Indiana University for his Masters Degree. He later taught at Wabash College before moving to NYC where he became editor of Industrial Design.
He is the author of By Design: Why There are No Locks on the Bathroom Doors in the Hotel Louis XIV and Other Object Lessons.
He is considered a founding father of modern design thinking.

We are going to explore number talks more here. Number talks are a common method used in elementary math classes to build students’ mental computation skills and conceptual understanding.
Watch the first 5 minutes of the first video to see how this teacher introduces number talks to her students for the first time. Note that the teacher does not solicit all answers first (as is usually done). After the teacher gets the answer 10 from Tyler, it would be helpful to ask if any students got any other answers. Then she can ask, “Who would like to share their thinking?”
Watch the number talk on the bottom. This teacher solicits a wide range of answers, and then at the end she asks students who would want to change their thinking. Another approach she might consider at the end is to say, “We have lots of different answers over here. Who would like to make an argument defending one of these answers?” Then she wouldn’t have to go through each student getting them to revise their thinking.
On the next slide, describe 3 ideas these videos gave you about how a number talk should look in a classroom.
Answer the question based on the videos from the previous slide.
Describe 3 ideas these videos gave you about how a number talk should look in a classroom. Be as specific as possible and give examples that refer back to the video.

Rote memorization of facts is not as helpful as having a flexible understanding of numbers and being able to derive facts. Graham Fletcher is a well-known elementary educator. Watch him describe a revised approach to thinking about memorizing facts.
Teachers have many tools for building fluency in multiplication.

How do you get a lesson to stick?
I recently read Made to Stick by Chip Heath and Dan Heath. It was the last in the perfect trilogy of books I read this summer which also included The World Is Flat and A Whole New Mind. It is a book on why some ideas die, and others thrive. They explain how to make an idea “stick.” I wrote many notes as I read the book changing the context of their writing to be more in line with helping me plan a lesson rather than a marketing campaign. All of the ideas in the podcast and PowerPoint are from the book. I decided to type them onto a file so that I would not misplace them and that turned into a PowerPoint document. I am going to post the PowerPoint with music on teachertube.com under the title “How do you get a lesson to stick?” While I don’t consider it done, I know with school starting it is probably as finished as it ever will be and decided to post it as is. Hope it helps make your lessons “stick” this year.
To be an effective professor today, creativity is essential to prepare students for the 21st century workforce. The document discusses that all people are born with creative traits, and provides 32 traits of creative individuals. It also presents various creative thinking techniques professors can use to develop their own creativity and teach creative thinking to students, such as brainstorming, brainwriting, and forced relationships. The overarching message is that creativity is a choice, and professors should choose to incorporate creative thinking into their teaching.
This is a term paper for psychology 101 course offered to our batch, it covers the basics about lateral thinking in a very simple way and has some examples about the same.

Cognition as Material: personality prostheses and other storiesAlan Dix
- The document discusses using bad ideas as a way to practice idea generation and critique without judgment, allowing for larger jumps in the design space. It also talks about developing "personality prostheses" as tools to help people leverage their natural strengths rather than trying to change their inherent personalities. The key points are that we should celebrate individual differences and look for ways to help people achieve goals given who they are, not try to change who they are.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views.
