Q1.How does your product use or challenge
conventions and how do they represent social group
or issues?
The genre of media portfolio is action thriller I have
gone along with the conventions of the typical action
film. The sound, the mise en scene and other aspects
of the film opening stick to the conventions of a action
film, moreover the typical use of high key lights is
seen across the whole movie. After a bit of research
over action thrillers the opening part to my film I tried
to
recreate a small workout scene from the movie
mission impossible rogue nation, keeping the camera
angles in mind tried to keep the audience thrilled.
Over all the project portrays important every day
reality how young adults from the ages of 20 to 30 are
addicted to violence. And what harm all these
activities bring to them. My film outlines the life of a
young man and how he gets into trouble because of
old grudges and involvement in unlawful acts. My film
targets social group who are between the age15-30
but raises a social issue against violence.
Shots I
tired to
recreate
in my
own
touch
Q2. How does your product engage with audience
and how would it be distributed as real media text?
People nowadays are attracted to to action thrillers and
these kinds of movies jolt them out of their seats and keep
them concentrating on the screen. I copied most of my
content from the movie mission impossible rogue nation.
Young audience these days enjoy the adrenaline rush they
experience while watching movies with good amount of
action, suspense, mystery and venture. The audience finds
the plot interesting and they are eager to watch through the
whole film. Actions movies grab largest amount of consumer
Action movies were the most popular genre in
2016, garnering the highest earnings at 20% of
box office gross (r245-million), followed by
action/adventure and animation both at 17%.
Both males and females find action thrillers
interesting as well as the people around the
age of 40 so the audience ill be attracting by
my product will be 15-40 in age. Also the fact
that action thrillers usually and mostly are a
success statically.
My project would be distributed as a real media text by WARNER
BROS. as being the big six in the Hollywood, my film would be in
good hands to be delivered to the masses. Warner bros. do a
tremendous job in showcasing their products. I myself have
been a huge fan of every film they’ve got up to the big screen.
My movie THE PARTNER sketches out action and thrill in the
finest way which will do the job on coming out as a real media
text. The Oceans Twelve, The dark knight rises and Get Smart
are movies distributed by Warner bros.
Q3.How did your production skills develop through
out this project?
All my life I knew getting to a levels would mean to finally
study what I had in interest. Choosing media as a subject was
like I was doing my thing. Working as a camera assistant with
my dad developed my interest further more to pursue this
field. Growing up I learned different camera angles different
lighting strategies and production and direction overall. But
after studying it in a proper manner my knowledge boosted. I
learned that media studies is so much more than a subject that
tells you not only about all the technology and techniques but
also the movies, movie cultures, gossips, editing, promotion,
exhibition and distribution of a film.
THE RULE OF ONE THIRD
The rule of thirds is applied by aligning a subject with
the guide lines and their intersection points, placing the
horizon on the top or bottom line, or allowing linear
features in the image to flow from section to section.
SOUND EFFECTS
Sound plays a vital roles in a film. It gives character to
a particular scene, as im using the mission impossible
theme song as a background score, the fast pace of
the song keep my scenario alive. Media studies taught
me that sound effect Is an assential part of a film. The
background score in my project is known as non
diegetic sound, sound whose source is neither visible
on the screen nor has been implied to be present in
the action: narrator's commentary. Sound effects
which is added for the dramatic effect. Mood music.
CAMERA ANGLES
‱wide shot is an establishing shot of a scene in
my movie to establish I used an ariel shot using
dji inspire 1 pro. This shot
‱ is the intializing of my film showing the overall
location of the film.
‱Two shot, it is a mid shot mostly taken to cover
talkies in which 2 person are seen in the frame
having a conversation going on.
‱ A close-up in filmmaking is a type of shot, which
tightly frames a person or an object. Close-ups
are one of the standard shots used regularly with
medium shots and long shots (cinematic techniques).
Media has given
me a bulk of
understanding and
knowledge and
there is a lot left
to be learned
Q4. How did you integrate technologies in this
project?
While doing this projects I had to come across many
software and hardwares and online websites. Google
helped a lot too! The first thing we all were asked to to
was to make an online blog so we could update all our
assignments over there for the whole term. I also
made an account on vimeo to upload my videos there.
It was a really easy task. Needless I discovered that
vimeo is an amazing platform to share our work with
the mass as anyone can view it globally and this
encourages and motivates me to keep working hard.
SOFTWARE
For editing I used Imovies
on my mac. However it
was an amazing and easy
software to use for a
beginner like me.
DJI GO APP: I used this
app to use my helicam
for the opening shot I
have in my film
HARDWARE
Canon 7D I what I used to film the whole
project. My device being one of the best made
my film look more professional look and made
my camera work outstanding. I used a PL
MOUNT along with
my camera.
ARRI CARLZEISS LENSE
The lenses I used are
manufactured to have
superb visual
characteristics. These
maintain a certain level of
sharpness and render
colors
DJI INSPIRE PRO
A totally different camera I used was
my dji inspire helicam and it was
used for the opening Ariel shot I took
and it gave my project a little
different hint.
POWER GRIP CAR MOUNT
Car mount was also used for the wide car
shots for this project.
