This document provides information on testing various cranial nerves: - The olfactory nerve is tested by having a patient identify common odors. - The optic nerve is tested via visual acuity and eye examination. - The oculomotor, trochlear, and abducens nerves are tested through eye movement and pupil response tests. - The trigeminal nerve is tested through facial sensation, muscle strength, and corneal reflex tests. - The facial, vestibulocochlear, glossopharyngeal, vagus, spinal accessory, and hypoglossal nerves are tested through specific assessments of voice, swallowing, head and shoulder movement, and tongue movement and function.
