of 1981 inside a primate research laboratory at the Institute of
Behavioral Research in Silver Spring, Maryland. The
researcher, Dr. Edward Taub, had cut sensory ganglia that
supplied nerves to the monkeys' fingers, hands, arms, and
legs, a process called "deafferentation," so that they could not
feel them. He then deafferented their entire spinal column.
He used restraint, electric shock, and withholding of food and
water to force the monkeys to use the deafferented parts of
their bodies. The aim of the research was to determine
whether the monkeys could be forced to use the limbs, and
whether this had an effect on the structure of their brains.

carrying the Sanjeevi Mountain to Lanka, felt
very exhausted and stopped at a hill as he
could not move any further. He prayed to the

flowing out and Hanuman was able to quench
his thirst and carry on his journey. Since then

X was born at Puttamangalam in the Thanjavur
district on September 9, 1899. X was an Indian
freedom fighter, novelist, short-story writer,
journalist, satirist, travel writer, script-writer, poet,
critic, and connoisseur of the arts. While serving a
prison sentence for participating in the Freedom
struggle, X came in to contact with C.Rajagopalachari
and T.Sadasivam, who were influential in shaping his
life and career. In 1941, he started his own weekly
magazine and through the stories he wrote in his
magazine (which were later published as novels), he
gained iconic status and was revered as one of the
best writers in the country. He died in 1954. His most
famous novel was translated and published under
the title “The Pinnacle of Sacrifice”. Identify X.

Peter Benenson, an English labour lawyer was
travelling in the London Underground on 19
November 1960, when he read of two
Portuguese students who had been sentenced to
seven years of imprisonment for having drunk a
toast to liberty. This disturbed Peter and he wrote
about his anguish in a newspaper article titled
“The Forgotten Prisoners”. Working with his
friend Eric Baker, he founded X in July 1961. Since
