What To Do If 511 CPU Fan is Not Detected In BiosLoura Wind
A CPU fan is crucial for a computer system to properly disperse heat and maintain your
CPU’s relaxed, healthy state. Consequently, your computer must function properly. If it
fails, you will see this notification.
A motherboard houses the CPU and allows components to communicate. Its primary roles are to select a CPU and motherboard that meet needs and provide room for expansion. The motherboard contains key components like the CPU, chipset, and BIOS that manage basic functions. Configuration is stored in CMOS memory and involves settings like voltages, ports and passwords to control access. Proper cooling of high-powered CPUs is important for performance and longevity.
A motherboard connects the main components inside a computer including the CPU, RAM, expansion cards, and ports. It has sockets for these parts and connects them through cables and wires. The CPU performs most processing and relies on the motherboard, memory, storage, and buses. A heat sink and fan are attached to keep the CPU from overheating as it works. The motherboard also contains the BIOS that performs startup checks and allows access to system settings.

HCL Notes and Domino License Cost Reduction in the World of DLAUpanagenda
Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc

What Is CPU OPT?
CPUopt meaningisCPU optional.Itisa headerthatisusedto connectsome type of wiringfora
liquidcoolingsystem. Once connected, youare able tocontrol the speedof the fan fromthe
motherboard.
Most gamingmotherboardsare equippedwithsuchCPUOPT for controllingthe heatsinkspeed.
whenyouaren’tusingthe PC forheavyload, youcan reduce the fan speedsoas to reduce the noise
of yoursystem.
Some heatsinksmaypairwith2 fansor mayhave clipson bothsides.Insuch a situation, one fan
pushescool airintothe finswhile the otherfanpullshotairout.
In general,CPUOPTis an additional CPUfanheader. Since itis“additional”,itisnotnecessaryand
the systemcan start normallywithoutworkingwithCPU_OPT. thatisto say, CPU OPTcan’t prevent
the systemfrombootingif there isa problem.Yet,itcan warn youaboutproblems.

CPU Fan vs CPU OPT
Both CPU fanheaderand CPUOPT fan connecter are heatsinkheadersforconnectingthe fansof
radiatorson the motherboard. The difference isthat the CPUfan headercan detectfanproblems
and protectthe systemfromoverheatingbypreventingitfrombooting.While the CPU-OPTandonly
detectandwarn about issues;itcannottake actionsto deal withthe problems.
Case Fan
As the name indicates, acase fan isa kindof fanusedto cool the case or enclosure of the computer
host. There are othernamesforthistype of coolerlike SYSfan.Asfor the brand Asus, itcallsit a
chassisfanor CHA-FAN.
2. SimilartoCPU OPT, a case fan can informyouif there isa problemwiththe fan, butcan’tprotect the
systemfromoverheatingbystoppingitfrom bootingup.
Tip: Besides the fan headersmentioned above, therearealso someother fan headersincluding
AIO_PUMP,W_PUMP+,and H_AMP.

Can I Use CPU OPT for Case Fan?
CPU fan header,CPUOPT,and SYS fan header,if all of themare 4 pinfan headers, the motherboard,
and inturn the BIOS andthe OS,can control the fans’speed.therefore, theoretically, youcan
connectthe case fanor one of the case fansto the CPU OPTwithout a problem.
However,if youconnectyourcase fan withthe CPU opt header, the speedof the case fan will
increase dramaticallywhenthe CPUgetshot, just like the heatsink/CPUfan connectedtothe
CPU_FAN headerwill do.And,whenthe CPUcoolsdown, the case will slow down.
While if youconnectthe case fanintothe SYS_FAN header, itwill change itsspeedaccordinglyby
the signal comingfrom the thermal sensoror some software controlledbythe BIOSor the OS.
