CPEC is a $50 billion investment in Pakistan that includes energy and infrastructure projects. $35 billion will go towards energy projects like power plants, while $15 billion will develop infrastructure like roads and the Gwadar port. It is part of China's One Belt One Road initiative to revive the Silk Road and connect Kashgar, China to Gwadar port via 2000km of transportation links. The project aims to overcome Pakistan's energy crisis, boost GDP growth, reduce the fiscal deficit, and create 700,000 new jobs through development of infrastructure and industries. However, it also faces challenges from security issues, bureaucracy, and political stability. International reports say it could promote regional growth, development, and trade.
