New Normal with large longing
It's summer and lockdown was a few weeks ago. We already have (almost) carefree weeks behind us but Corona is still our
constant companion.
We took a look at how media use, consumer consumption & everyday life have changed.
Key result: Many things are back to normal or on the way to normal. We do not see any major changes in behaviour and
values. But some new achievements will probably last longer.
MEDIA: The sun is shining outside, so you can do more. As a result, media usage is back to normal. However, media have
gained in importance. This will be noticeable in the long term.
CONSUMPTION: People are shopping again both in the cities and online - especially parents use the convenient shopping
from home. The double burden at home and wearing masks with the whole family spoils the pleasure of a day at the
shopping centre. Just as time-saving: delivery services. Many people have learned to love them during Corona and don't
want to miss them anymore.
NEW DAILY LIFE: Corona is still in people's minds, even though nobody really wants to hear about it anymore. Lockdown
policy relaxation is perceived and claimed in a mixed way. Parties & concerts have to wait.
WORK: More than half of the working population now assumes that after Corona more work is done from home than before.
However, the majority hopes that at least events can be held offline again.
TRAVEL: Even though there is less traveling this year, the longing of travel is unbroken. After Germany has been extensively
explored as a travel destination in 2020, they will be happy to return to Australia or the USA. However, bookings will be
made at somewhat shorter notice - an effect of probably some travel disappointments this year.
STAY SAFE!

We already have (almost) carefree weeks behind us but Corona is still our constant companion. We took a look at how media use, consumer consumption & everyday life have changed. Key result: Many things are back to normal or on the way to normal. We do not see any major changes in behaviour and values. But some new achievements will probably last longer. MEDIA: The sun is shining outside, so you can do more. As a result, media usage is back to normal. However, media have gained in importance. This will be noticeable in the long term. CONSUMPTION: People are shopping again both in the cities and online - especially parents use the convenient shopping from home. The double burden at home and wearing masks with the whole family spoils the pleasure of a day at the shopping centre. Just as time-saving: delivery services. Many people have learned to love them during Corona and don't want to miss them anymore. NEW DAILY LIFE: Corona is still in people's minds, even though nobody really wants to hear about it anymore. Lockdown policy relaxation is perceived and claimed in a mixed way. Parties & concerts have to wait. WORK: More than half of the working population now assumes that after Corona more work is done from home than before. However, the majority hopes that at least events can be held offline again. TRAVEL: Even though there is less traveling this year, the longing of travel is unbroken. After Germany has been extensively explored as a travel destination in 2020, they will be happy to return to Australia or the USA. However, bookings will be made at somewhat shorter notice - an effect of probably some travel disappointments this year.
