As part of my degree I have conducted research studies and can interpret data findings and
communicate trends fluently. This skill is especially useful in assessing competitiveness. I surmise
that some of your clients may be academic research fellows, so understanding the processes will be
useful.
I have the ability to find and compare data effectively. It is also important to be able to display it,
whether verbally, written or using charts or graphs. I am a confident and fluent public speaker, in large
or small groups. I am proficient in the use of Microsoft office, and feel that software is an essential
part of a growing business. I strongly believe that business grows best using proven systems such as
CRM with excel, and need to be used effectively. Power point is a very useful tool as it adds clarity
and visuals to a sales presentation.
I enjoy meeting new people and being in new environments. I have a smart and reliable vehicle and
see becoming a field sales person as an attractive proposition. I feel that variety in a job is paramount
to keeping interest and energy levels high. I am thinking that field sales may mean travelling abroad,
which I am willing to do. Working on creative projects can also be energizing. I appreciate targets and
structure, they help me to monitor my performance and compete with myself to be better and better, I
work best under a little pressure.
The ability to have a relatively unlimited earning potential is important. I am ambitious in my
expectations and cannot see myself earning less than £26000 per annum at any point. Once lines of
communications have been opened up with potential customers, whether that is through social media
or cold calling, it should lead to an ongoing relationship, leading to more leads and more business.
This should enable me to maximise my earning potential. In previous roles I have always excelled in
breaking sales targets and being “TOP sales person” consistently.
My sociological background gives me a wide scope of knowledge, from a cultural, economic and
psychological perspective. This helps me to find common ground with a variety of individuals, and
helps with rapport building and makes ease of closing sales.
Some of the areas that are associated with this industry such as renewable energy, sustainability and
population growth are topics that are also related to global development modules, studied as part of
my degree, alongside “Working in organisations”, “Researching social life”, “Developing academic and
professional skills” and “social research”. Sociology it has been argued is scientific in its application.
In no way do I feel that I know a lot about this industry, however I am a fast and dedicated learner
and can adapt very well. I recognise that forging links with large research companies/ institutions may
be the way forward. Briefly looking at some of the case studies on your site, I can see the benefits of
telemetry for remote water quality monitoring for example. Travelling regularly to Jamaica I know that
Jamaica’s bauxite mining is world leading for the extraction and shipping of aluminium. I am curious
as to whether there may be a market there for your equipment.
I have recently learned about the manipulation of a natural vortex in separating water air and matter
in dental compressors. Science is my other somewhat untapped skill from GCSE days. I managed get
a C in science and was strongest in physics, which I love! I am interested to learn about how
electromagnetic energy is utilised to communicate phenomenon to us.
What interests me is seeing your business go from strength to strength and I am passionate about
that. I am motivated by self improvement and the improvement of wider society as a whole. I know
that your products can be life enhancing as we experience weather changes, and I expect that your
clients may be passionate about the environment in which we all exist. I consider myself a very
strong candidate. I bring the human element to technical sales, which I feel is essential, as people buy
people. I can bring creative innovation to your business, keeping your brand strong relevant and
interesting. I am self motivated and can organise my time and workload appropriately.
In my experience engineering and services, callouts are often the “bread and butter” of your income;
however equipment sales seem to also be paramount in this instance. I am interested to learn what
your high end products are and determine where those extra revenues that help you build and expand
will come from. Your own thoughts and direction are paramount, as you have all the tools and market
knowledge, and working closely with yourselves to establish the best way forward is what I want to
do.
