SESSION 1
• Met at Rec. Center
• Walked around track while getting to know client
• Seemed motivated but unsure about what to eat to lose weight
SESSION 2
• Met at Aldi’s
• Asked client to show me what she’s been eating so far
• Client seemed knowledgeable about reading food labels and choosing foods to make
a balanced diet
• Started taking BCAA supplement that someone told her about to have enough energy
for a workout
• Explained the Exchange System
GRAND CANYON TRIP
• Client packed more protein-rich foods than carbohydrate-rich foods
– Beef jerky
– Almonds
• Knee injury
• Accomplished her goal of being able to hike the Grand Canyon!!!!
SESSION 3
• MyPlate and eating a balanced diet
• Had client take a quiz about material covered; Got all questions correct
• Client is less knowledgeable about nutrition than previously thought
– Realized she did not consume enough grains in her diet
– Thought almonds were considered a carbohydrate-rich food
• Client was already making plate half full of fruits and vegetables
SESSION 4
• Went more in depth with the Exchange System and had client plan a one day meal
plan together
• Daniel Fast, Juice Fast, Water-only Fast
– Explained the importance of cutting out food groups and not replacing them with other
foods to meet needs for macro-nutrients
• Suggested reading Water with Lemon
• Gave her a pamphlet of recommendations made during all sessions
• Received a copy of the Exchange System book
OVERALL
• Client gained a lot of knowledge about nutrition and what foods to eat to lose weight
• Client said that she was being more mindful of trying to consume more grains
• Lost a total of 17lbs
• Was one of the top participants in the Move it to Lose it program!!!!
• Achieved goal of being able to walk the Grand Canyon!!!!
• Has the tools and knowledge to reach her goal of being at 200lbs by the end of the
year
