This document discusses migratory corrosion inhibitors and their benefits compared to other corrosion protection methods. It provides examples of how migratory corrosion inhibitors can double the service life of concrete in various industries. Modeling shows they increase service life from 15 to 50 years depending on the concrete's chloride content and cover depth. Field studies found migratory corrosion inhibitors reduced corrosion rates by 5 times compared to untreated concrete. They provide corrosion protection even with cracks and have fewer drawbacks than alternatives like epoxy-coated rebar or waterproofing. The cost of migratory corrosion inhibitors is low, around 0.07% of total construction costs for large projects.
