The career I have chosen to pursue after graduation is a Correctional Officer.
Correctional Officer's have been around for a very long time and were designed to keep major
offenders off the street after they have been arrested by the Police. The offenders are put in a holding
cell at a Pre Trial Centre awaiting their court date.
Correctional Officers are a very important part of the Justice System because it keeps high profile
criminals off the street and locked up even before they are proven innocent or guilty. The

The new prisoner is then admitted into their "pod". Rather than keep ALL the inmates together in
one large group, they are broken down into smaller groups. Each group lives in their own pod. Each
pod had a central living space and outside fresh air lounge. The individual cells surround the living
area and there are three additional floors that overlook the central living space that you reach by
inside stairs. Each level contains approximately 10 individual cells. Some information was not

Working in a Correctional Facility is a very stressful environment. Everything is done by the book
and not following the protocol could mean termination of your employment. A Corrections Officer
is a Government job which means you get a great salary that could range from $35,000.00 –

Introduction
When contemplating the art forms of sculpture and painting, in ancient Rome, one has to consider
not only how they differ in form but also how they differed in use. Although both art forms were
used for a sense of status, one is deeply rooted in realism and the other in fantasy. In order to
compare these two distinct art forms, I will first look at them individually and discuss their uses in

picturesque settings, an atmosphere of mystery and terror, and element of violence and the

shows the presence of violence. These plants add to the atmosphere of gloominess and death, which
made an appropriate setting for a Gothic novel.
Moreover, Manderly appears differently after the cloud covers the moon.
(p.4) "The house was a sepulcher, our fear and suffering lay buried in the ruins."
The house would then become an isolated tomb that will never be inhabited by anyone again. This
hinted a much more significant meaning under its surface beauty, which contributes to the setting of
a Gothic novel.
In addition, the library in Manderly is like a church–(p.76) "a room for peace, a room for
meditation", with an ancient mossy smell, scrolled ceiling, dark panelling and heavy curtains, also
giving a sense of sacredness. (p.100) "I must have lost my bearings" What's more, Manderly is
similar to a castle or a maze, with many rooms and corridors, that the heroine couldn't make her way
on the first day of her arrival to Manderly. There are different verbs describing the movement to
places, for example, "went up", "went along", "turned left", etc.. This gave a sense of mystery.
By this, the above images made Manderly an appropriate setting for a Gothic novel in spite of its

My intrest of this story, was raised by the suspense and the tension throughout the story, not to

2 Background of Christ the Redeemer
2.1 Christ the Redeemer (figure 1) was first petitioned to be built in 1850 by Pedro Maria in honour
of Princess Isabel, the daughter of Emperor Pedro ll. The project was not approved to be built until
1921 after the separation of Church and State. The statue was determined to be built on the summit
of Mount Corcovado allowing the 98 feet high and 92 feet across to impose itself, to be visible to
every part of Rio de Janeiro.
2.2 On the 4th of April 1922 construction started in commemoration of Brazilian Independence Day,

Introduction
Climate change is one of the fastest growing concerns in today's society. The effects of climate
change have already been seen across the world in the form of trees and plants flowering sooner,
loss of sea ice, shrinking glaciers and longer heat waves . These effects will only increase over time.
One of the causes of climate change is increased emission of green house gases (GHG). As a
consequence governments worldwide are working towards implementing legislation to reduce these
effects, one of which is to encourage people to make properties more sustainable. The focus here
will be on Dr Johnson's house, which is a 300 year old townhouse located within the City of London
at 17 Gough Square, London, EC4A 3DE (see Appendix 1 for location). This old property has had
little done to it to reduce GHG. As it will be sold to house an administrative section of the
government department, a number of sustainable improvements will be analysed, along with
legislation that should be taken into consideration when doing so. Furthermore, the provisions in the
case that the property was located in a EU member state and if it was located in a country that is not
a EU member will also be examined.
Property History
The property was built in the late 17th century and altered in the 18th century. Today it is used as a
museum to exhibit the works and collections of Dr Johnson who rented the property from the 1748–
1759 and wrote the famous Dictionary here, published in 1755 .

When I was 15 years old, I packed up my life in New York City, said goodbye to my friends and
family and moved to a small town in the middle of Connecticut. For three years, I went to a
boarding school called Choate Rosemary Hall in a suburb of New Haven. I moved out of the City,
where I had grown up and filled with memories, to a small campus on a grassy hill in the middle of
a forest. While I had moved houses many times before, I had always stayed in NYC, a place I knew
well. This change was drastic and jarring, and as such when reading Tuan's theories space and place
and experiential perspective I find that my experiences of memories of the school line up well with
Tuan's ideas. For one, this new campus was Tuan's definition of space. It was a physical location
with which I had not created any memories or emotional significance. Tuan discusses space as being
open and infinite and in my first memories of boarding school, the forests and buildings seem so
large and expansive. My mental map of where my physics class was from my dorm would put the
walk at a solid 15 minutes. The long road which cut through campus seemed to stretch on forever as

The former ES&A Bank is sitting on the corner of Queen St and Collins St in Melbourne CBD with
the main Entrance on Collins Street. The Gothic revival design of the former ES&A Bank was done
by architect William Wardell and was modified by the General Manager of the bank, Sir George
Verdon, who also commissioned the project. The contractors were Goss & Masson of Hawthorn.
The final cost of the building was over £77,000 which was about twice the budget. The construction
of the bank began in October 1883 and was opened in May 1887. It was combined in 1923 with the
Former Melbourne Stock Exchange, which sits beside it on Collins Street, forming the famous ANZ

The interior of the bank is far more ornate than the exterior. One of the features of the banking
chamber is the appealing cast iron columns and decorated trusses. The cast iron columns and scallop

The Alfred Hitchcock film, North by Northwest, provides many high anxiety, suspenseful, and
dramatic scenes. The hotel elevator scene, 30 minutes into the film, provides a comedic moment in
Roger Thornhill's desperate attempt to save himself. This scene comes after he and his mother
visited the room rented to George Kaplan. While in the room they received a phone call from the
men who are after "Kaplan," upon discovering the call came from the lobby Thornhill and his
mother head to the elevators in order to escape before they arrive at the room. The scene begins with
a shot on the elevator, stairs, and a small part of the hallway. This establishing shot sets up the
elevator as the next point of focus. The hallway is included in this shot because as Thornhill and his
mother enter the frame the camera pans with them and tracks in as they head to the elevator
