The poem celebrates the Coromandel fishers and their way of life. It calls on the fishermen brothers to rise with the morning light, gather their nets and set out on their catamarans to capture the wealth of the sea's tide. The sea is described as their mother and the clouds and waves as their comrades. Though the shade of the coconut glade and mango grove is sweet, sweeter still is the kiss of the spray and dance of the wild foam as they row to the edge of the sea where the sky meets the water.
