•Technology comprises the tools.
Technology is not a collection of machines and devices,
but a way of acting. (Muffoletto, 1994)

➢Learners are engaged in solving
real-world problems.
➢Existing knowledge is activated as a
foundation for new information.
➢New knowledge is demonstrated to
the learner.
➢The learner applies new knowledge.
➢New knowledge is integrated into
the learner's world.

Teachers as Designers
▪ Teaching is no longer simply about passing on knowledge.
▪ Teaching is a design science.
▪ Like other design professionals, teachers have to work out creative and
evidence-based ways of improving what they do.
▪ Every day, teachers design and test new ways of teaching, using learning
technology to help their students.
▪ By representing and communicating their best ideas as structured pedagogical
patterns, teachers could develop this vital professional knowledge collectively.
(Laurillard, 2012)
Changing thinking and practices of teachers
is needed in-terms of both Technology and Pedagogy.

▪ “The principal goal of education …
should be creating men and women who
are capable of doing new things, not
simply repeating what other generations
have done; men and women who are
creative, inventive and discoverers...”
