PT. PLN Geothermal is a subsidiary of Indonesia's state-owned power company established in 2008 to support geothermal energy development. Indonesia has significant untapped geothermal resources and a value chain that includes opportunity identification, resource assessment, field development, power plant construction, and operation and maintenance. In the near term, PT. PLN Geothermal aims to develop 493MW of capacity across existing "brownfield" sites. Long term, it sees potential to develop over 1,800MW by taking on more roles in the value chain, including pioneering new "greenfield" sites, if regulations allow more private sector participation. The company welcomes partnerships to help achieve these goals.
