and a number of great thinkers and philosophers or
social reformers played a key role to uplift Indian
society.
4. 1) Brahma samaj.
The founder of Brahma Samaj was raja
Rammohan Roy.
Brahma Samaj consider every human as a
Brahmin without any consideration of cast
or sub cast.
the Brahma Samaj was a power in Bengal.
5. 2) Arya Samaj: (1875)
The founder of Arya Samaj was
Swami Dayanand Saraswati.
He wanted only return to ‘Hinduism’.
And to achieve this he organised the Arya Samaj.

Samaj Remains in society.
6. 3)Prathna Samaj.(1867)
The founder of Prathna Samaj was
Mahadev Govind Rande.
Their motto was to be content to continue the
traditions of the prophets and saint of Maharashtara
like Ganadev, Eknath, Namdev, Tukaram, Ramdas.
The movement for religious reform or regeneration
took place in the form of Prathana Samaj.
7. 4) Theosophical Society.
(1875)
The Theosophical Society was a western
Attempt to fuse with the spring of Indian
spirituality.
This organisation was founded at new
York Kater on society shifted to Madras.
8. 5) Swami Vivekanda:
He was an Indian Hindu monk
and a Chief disciple of 19th century
Indian mystic Ramkrishna.
Swamiji was a major force in the revival of
Hinduism in India.
Vivekananda founded the ‘Ramkrishan Math’
and ‘Ramkrishna Mission’.
He introduce Hinduism at the Parliement of
the World’s Religion in Chicago in 1893.
9. 6) Sri Aurobindo.
Aurobindo write an essay on ‘The
Renaissance in India.’
He says that “Spirituality is the master key of the
Indian mind. The sense of infinity is native to it.”
Aurobindo says that the renaissance of Indian is
necessary for fortune of humanity itself. And he
believe in that renaissance was the modern India.
10. The renaissance in India created pillars from
modern India. In earlier time Indian society
was suffering from plenty of superstitions,
misunderstanding, about religion, some
inhuman custom like ‘Satipratha’, ‘killing girl
child’ , ‘narrow mindedness’, and so on...
Such foundation or founder tried to remove
the darkness and founded modern India, a
better India. They succeeded not only in India
but also convinced the west about the Great
Heritage of India.
