The Republic Act No. 10912, also known as the CPD Act of 2016, requires professionals to earn continuing professional development (CPD) credits for renewal of their professional identification cards. The act took effect in August 2016 and implementation began in March 2017. It establishes a transitional period where professionals must earn a percentage of their required CPD credits for renewal, starting at 30% in 2017 increasing to 100% in 2019. Several boards also published resolutions with unique transitional periods for their respective professions, such as teachers, accountants and nurses. The act and implementing rules provide guidelines for CPD providers, credit applications and fees.
