4. Assessing your tattoo
• Please read our Client Education – we like our clients to be fully informed!
• Let’s take a look at your tattoo so we can assess your tattoo and skin type.
• Have you had any previous tattoo removal attempts?
• Do you heal well? Do you have any visible scars from previous cuts/surgery?
• What kind of work do you do? Will it affect healing?
5. Benefits of Skinial Lactic Acid Removal
• Safe – The ink comes OUT of the skin using the natural rejection process of
the body.
• Lactic Acid removal liquid leaves NO residue in the body – physiological
occurs in the body. Is degraded by the body within 30 minutes of treatment
• Removes ALL colours
• Unlike Laser, an accurate number of treatments can be estimated for
complete removal of a tattoo .
6. Benefits of Skinial Lactic Acid Removal cont…
• Less painful than laser.
• If you have a professional tattoo and have not had any previous laser
treatments the colour will always come out.
• Average number of treatments 3 – 5.
• Less treatment = less cost!
7. Why we don’t use laser!
• Laser blasts the tattoo with high heat and breaks ink down, the heat can turn
some of the ink molecules into carcinogenic compounds (cancer causing).
• The body does not eliminate the ink, it can be found in the lymph, spleen,
liver and kidneys.
• Cannot accurately estimate the number of treatments, anything from 6-20!
• Due to number of treatments it is very expensive.
8. Removal by Laser
Pigment is broken down and released into the
immune system, residual pigment is transported to
lymph nodes and can be found by surgical
exploration
When ink is heated by laser and broken down some
of the compounds become carcinogenic – the long
term effect of this on the body is unknown. Often
after several laser treatments the ink remains deep
in the dermis, and no further removal is possible.
After 5 Laser treatments
After 7 Laser treatments
9. Types of Scarring
Hypertrophic
Usually temporary and can be reduced
by massage or silicon gel pads
Keloid
Genetic disease of the skin, the body does not
know when to stop producing collagen
10. How Is The Skinial Treatment Performed?
• Using a micro pigmentation machine, small circular areas of the
epidermis/dermis are abraded and the diluted lactic acid fluid is dropped
onto the skin.
• The needles penetrate the dermis to approximately 1 - 1.3mm, depth of ink.
• The body then recognizes the pigment as a foreign substance and naturally
rejects it to the surface where it becomes part of the scab that forms.
• Initially you will feel a sharp sting but this recedes very quickly, similar to
getting a tattoo.
• When the scab drops off it takes the pigment with it.
(2-3 weeks).
11. Pigment Depth
• Professional tattoo’s are placed 1
to 1.5mm into the skin
• Home tattoo’s (non-professional)
often at different depths up to
2.5mm
12. Tattoo Removal Using Lactic Acid
Already the ink is being rejected to the surface. Skin bridges of
intact epidermis and dermis are left for better healing results.
Scabs take 2-3 weeks to drop off.
13. Tattoo Removal Using Lactic Acid
After each treatment the ink has been completely removed from
the body. We allow 8 weeks between treatments for skin to heal
sufficiently.
After 1st treatment ready for second After second treatment ready for 3rd
14. Far Less Treatments are Needed Than Laser
This tattoo will be completely removed in just 4 treatments.
Aftercare is a vital part for a successful outcome.
Before After 3 Treatments
15. What are the risks?
• When you break the skin there is always a risk of scarring, we minimize this
as much as possible, but we cannot guarantee that this will not happen, or
that by removing your tattoo you will not be left with some kind of mark on
your skin.
• We consider a good result when you cannot see there was a tattoo from
1metre away, your skin is already damaged from the tattoo
• Certain areas of the body are more vulnerable: the feet, hands, fingers,
ankles, elbows, neck and chest.
16. What are the risks? Cont…
• Patch testing is a recommended to determine if there is a tendency towards
hypertrophic/keloid scars. However this does not completely eliminate the
risk as the actual removal will cover a larger area where friction on the
wound may occur.
• Every individual is different, their healing capacity is different,
medications, smoking, alcohol, the sun, lifestyle and type of work
can all hinder the ability to heal well, or cause inflammation.
17. Tattoo Removal Using Lactic Acid
New skin is formed
This wrinkling is normal, it is brand new skin
takes time to return to normal colour – up to
6 months, sometimes longer.
The skin is returning to normal
18. After Care – must be followed for best results
• Allow air flow to treated area as much as possible.
• Avoid clothes rubbing on area – wear loose clothing to avoid hypertrophic scarring.
• No picking or scratching the scabs.
• The scabs that form will take 2-3 weeks to fall off, taking the ink with them.
• Absolutely no sun on the area, this can cause inflammation leading to scarring.
Once skin has healed use Zinc total block out on area until redness has
disappeared, or keep the area covered.
• Use Skinial Scar Care cream for optimal results.
19. Using The Dot Technique
25 dots is the maximum per treatment, too many and the body
will not reject all the pigment, leading to an inferior result.
Removes ALL COLOURS !
