This document provides guidance for a group assignment to produce a 20-minute video on a construction process as part of a Construction Technology 2 course. Students will work in groups of 5 members to film and edit footage of a construction process. The video should include an introduction to hook viewers, identify the group members and site location. It must demonstrate subject knowledge throughout and have clear, correct information with no errors. The video will be evaluated based on camera work, transitions, editing, and how well it explains the construction process. The final video is due on July 2nd before 2:30pm.

 The introduction is motivating, and hooks the viewer from the beginning.
 Text on project title, name and photo of the five members and location of the site.
 Camera set-ups example hand-held but preferably mounted on tripod to avoid shaky pictures.
 Camera movements from one angle to another to show different views of the process.
 Avoid Zooming In and Out Too Much
 A variety of transitions are used to assist in communicating the main ideas.
 Subject knowledge is evident throughout the video.
 All information is clear, appropriate and correct.
 The text and audio have no grammar or spelling errors.
 Tape is edited. Video runs smoothly from shot to shot.
 The project can incorporate animation video to enhance the explanation of the construction
process further.

Students will normally work in small project groups of 5 members and each group must ensure that all
members are involved in all aspects of the production. The video project is based on any of the
construction process that lasts around 20 minutes. Plenty of light will make an incredible difference in
the quality of the video footage that you shoot. Shooting outside will give you the best results, but if
you’re shooting inside, try to turn on as many lights as possible, and bring them close to your video
subject.
