of them have used dull

Therefore, I will use
dimmed light when
creating my music video.

Furthermore, the vast majority
of music videos I watched for
my research had scenes where
the band is playing music
instruments. This is
conventional and essential for
a rock music video because it
shows the character of the
band (e.g within Smells like
Teen Spirit Nirvana play the
instruments in a savage-like
manner whereas within Violet
hill Coldplay are rather calm
while playing the music
instruments.)

Within the music videos I researched
there has been one really important
trend – females have been
represented as either an object of
desire or as passive despite the fact
we have entered the post-modern
era. This is due to application of the
Male Gaze Theory developed by
Winship. Women are presented in
such a way because men want to see
them in such a way. Within the
R‟n‟B videos I researched even
though the females play the
dominant part ( „Take a Bow‟ by
Rihanna and „Best Thing I never had‟
by Beyonce ) they are still
represented in such a way. However,
men are shown to be masculine
within all the videos.
