Disinformation on the Web: impact, characteristics and detection of Wikipedia...voginip
This document analyzes Wikipedia hoaxes to understand their impact, characteristics, and methods for detection. It finds that while most hoaxes are caught quickly, some can last a long time, receive significant traffic, and be referenced by credible news media, making them more impactful. Hoaxes are distinguishable from real articles in that they tend to be longer with more plain text but fewer references, have incoherent link networks, receive fewer prior mentions from suspicious editors, and are created by recently registered editors with less experience. Machine learning models can detect hoaxes with 98% accuracy using editor and network features, outperforming humans who are often fooled by more coherent-appearing hoaxes. Non-appearance features are important for
The document discusses the benefits of a new centralized inventory system in Oracle R12 for companies that do both process and discrete manufacturing. It allows such hybrid manufacturers to operate with a single item master and inventory system. This unified system reduces redundant data and maintenance while improving inventory visibility and supply chain integration. It also enables process manufacturers to engage in available-to-promise checking while respecting quality processes through new inventory status attributes.
The document discusses advanced manufacturing systems and compares conventional and advanced manufacturing. It describes types of advanced manufacturing systems like JIT, CIM, and FMS. JIT focuses on producing only what is needed when it is needed to reduce inventory. CIM uses computers to control manufacturing processes to increase speed and reduce errors. FMS allows flexibility to react to changes in production. The document concludes that advanced manufacturing uses computer technologies and skilled workers to efficiently produce a variety of products in both small and large volumes.

Lifting the Corporate Veil. Power Point Presentationseri bangash
"Lifting the Corporate Veil" is a legal concept that refers to the judicial act of disregarding the separate legal personality of a corporation or limited liability company (LLC). Normally, a corporation is considered a legal entity separate from its shareholders or members, meaning that the personal assets of shareholders or members are protected from the liabilities of the corporation. However, there are certain situations where courts may decide to "pierce" or "lift" the corporate veil, holding shareholders or members personally liable for the debts or actions of the corporation.
Here are some common scenarios in which courts might lift the corporate veil:
Fraud or Illegality: If shareholders or members use the corporate structure to perpetrate fraud, evade legal obligations, or engage in illegal activities, courts may disregard the corporate entity and hold those individuals personally liable.
Undercapitalization: If a corporation is formed with insufficient capital to conduct its intended business and meet its foreseeable liabilities, and this lack of capitalization results in harm to creditors or other parties, courts may lift the corporate veil to hold shareholders or members liable.
Failure to Observe Corporate Formalities: Corporations and LLCs are required to observe certain formalities, such as holding regular meetings, maintaining separate financial records, and avoiding commingling of personal and corporate assets. If these formalities are not observed and the corporate structure is used as a mere façade, courts may disregard the corporate entity.
Alter Ego: If there is such a unity of interest and ownership between the corporation and its shareholders or members that the separate personalities of the corporation and the individuals no longer exist, courts may treat the corporation as the alter ego of its owners and hold them personally liable.
Group Enterprises: In some cases, where multiple corporations are closely related or form part of a single economic unit, courts may pierce the corporate veil to achieve equity, particularly if one corporation's actions harm creditors or other stakeholders and the corporate structure is being used to shield culpable parties from liability.

MANU/SC/0419/2015
Process of manufacture:
(i) Process would be treated as "manufacture" only if new product
known to market came into existence with original product losing its
original character.
(ii) Mere addition in value, after original product had undergone
certain process, would not bring it within the definition of 'manufacture'
unless its original identity also underwent transformation and it became
a distinctive and new product.
(iii) Mere addition to addition would not make it different product if the
primary and essential character of the product after addition still
remained same. There has to be a transformation of the product into
new commodity, commercially known as a distinct and separate
commodity.

• Forms one of the most integral part of compliance
management within a company.
• There should be a proper system in place to educate
the employees about the organization’s compliance
program and its policies and the way the company
handles compliance management.
• Training has to be provided at every level of the
company starting with the management to the
employees through formal or informal staff meetings.
• Legal mandates should be explained to the employees
properly so that they are aware of their obligations as
well as the procedure to execute them.
• All the compliance activities need to be segregated
and allocated department wise. For e.g., The Human
Resource Management Department will take care of
the Labour and Employment related Laws, the Finance
Department will take care of the Fiscal Compliances,
The Company Secretarial Department will manage the
corporate compliances etc.
• The company should have an effective mechanism in
place to review and keep a check on the compliance
activities done by the personnel to whom it was
allocated and the same should be done before the due
